This is exactly how I've been able to continue growing my channel and even with less than 500 subscribers, monetize my channel through other means like affiliate marketing and email marketing. Most people think they have to be huge to do well, but that's not true anymore. What Sean is saying here is that we all can do this if we follow the things that KZbin wants us to do and optimize them to rank.

The biggest issue I have with Think Media videos is they seem to be geared to those creators who are attempting to explain things, show someone how to do something, give first impressions, etc. It very likely Think Media does this because a majority of KZbin viewers may very well be looking for the answer to something so that's where they go. But of the number of hours I put in watching KZbin for such things only about 30%. True, that puts me in a much smaller group of KZbin viewers--but worthy of attention nonetheless. The majority of my KZbin time is used watching vloggers daily lives--van lifers, narrowboaters, etc. And that also tends to be what my vlogs are about. So while Think Media is likely doing a great job explaining how important it is to "answer the question," there certainly is a segment who watch your vids who would be very much appreciated and helped by Think Media outlining ways the non-answer videos could generate more viewers, rank higher in SEO, and the like. I do take what Think Media vids explain and attempt to incorporate germane suggestions, but please consider a small series aimed at this smaller niche I've outlined. Thanks.

I already found out that what you say in your video helps with search rankings. I film classic car shows and do commentary while I'm filming. Others who do the same type of videos just delete the audio track and put copyright free music in. They don't even say a single word in their videos, just music. I'm getting more views that channels with many times more subscribers because of this. I also talk about other shows I filmed recently and ones I'll be shooting in the coming weeks, which often results in that video turning up in search for the other event I talked about. By the way, my views actually jumped after I stopped adding tags.

This is the only video I've ever watched that said "here's how to rank in search" and didn't just say "have a good title and thumbnail." You actually told me something I've been doing wrong by saying to use keywords verbally in the video. I've been trying to find out for almost a year what I've been doing wrong. and I know there's more. Most videos say do this, this, this, and that and you will blow up. Hey I'm the guy getting very littleview (but working my tail off to get lots more :-) BUT, I think I stumbled onto a strategy that I THINK is a GOOD ONE regarding TAGS. 1) Come up with that killer title. 2) Copy/Paste your title into the first line of your desctription. (but don't write the description yet) 3) Paste your title into your tags... and use Vid IQ to flesh out your max # of awesome tags THEN---copy those tags and paste them into your description boad (after your titled) and use all (or as many as will reasonably work) of those tage/words and phrases---to construct yourdescription! You end up with a beautifully synergized title, description and tag list :-) I'm just a rookie... but this seems to make good sense tome---If I'm wasting time or way off here---let me know.

Keyword research, strong thumbnails and titles = ranking in search. However there is 1 thing about search that's important to know. It takes TIME. If your searched content isn't as popular, it might take time for people to be looking up that type of content so be patient. I rank Browse first and Search second and I am very happy with that. My highest ranked video with 8.4k views in 3 months is a browsed and search and yet I only made this channel 3.5 months ago. Patience is key.

Here's a huge problem with the algorithm. It seems hugely inconsistent. Do this, do that, do this and you will succeed. I do that and stay where I am. They say do this stuff but don't go into detail what exactly we are doing. So we can do what they say but do it wrong. And the analytics hardly ever match up. The higher the view the lower the CTR witch makes no sense and is confusing. View count up = CTR up. obviously people are clicking. That's just one example. But there are a lot of inconsistencies. Us as creators should get notified of changes otherwise we finally figure the algorithm out then suddenly tank and are oblivious
