That was a wonderful impression of a beautiful location. For a beginner, like myself clusters of buildings are a bit daunting. So many details in those buildings, how you suggested all of them, simply brilliant. I have learnt quite alot just from that 1 video Malcolm, amazing. So inspiring to watch. Many thanks for sharing.

Initially I planned to paint only 2 simpler scenes from the Greece theme photos, but your demonstration did change my mind. Although I am not sure about the quality of final result, your video inspired and taught me how to deal with all these houses and boats and straight lines that I always struggle with. Thank you, Malcolm. You pushed me (and also many other members of our community, who are like me) out of our comfort zone to move further and gain new skills. Beautiful painting as always!

Thank you for this demonstration. I really enjoyed seeing how fresh and beautiful you painting become. I’ll keep in mind to simplify background and put effort to colors and creating atmosphere for my next painting.

Thank you love your videos ! ...just wondering about your artist live channel can’t always be there live if I join can I do it at my own time and pace as I am busy with other projects too is that a possibility? Will I be able to ask questions if I’m not there live.... and will the demonstration etc still be up for awhile ?

Thank you. Yes all recordings are added to the archive to watch at any time. Plenty to keep you busy! 😊

Hi Malcom, can you please share your color palette in your tutorials for us?
@MalcolmDewey3 жыл бұрын
Sure, always the same really: titanium white, ultramarine, cerulean blue, cad. red light, cad yellow lemon, burnt Sienna, yellow ochre, alizarin crimson.

Malcolm, I notice that you apply the paint relatively thick even from the early stages. Is this because you are sure of your colours or is it because of the time constraints? Thank you and loving the channel!
@MalcolmDewey3 жыл бұрын
Both play a part of course, but the more thin layers you work over the more potential to muddy up color. This way I get the result and there is less chance of a mess 😇

Malcolm, what size brushes are you using for this one? They look much smaller than the size 8-10 you recommend in 1 of your classes I am taking. Also, a background like this with all that detail usually sends me into panic mode. Thank you for showing us that the background does not need to be rendered literally. You may have given me the nerve to step outside of my comfort zone!
@MalcolmDewey3 жыл бұрын
@@judymiller8883 This was mostly with a size 6. Not sure of every brush as I use what need in the moment too. This was a 6x8" so you can still get nice painterly shapes with a 6 or even a 4 in the lady stages. Technique remains a priority with brushwork. You can blend away with big brushes too.
