a video on how to build punch strength would be great. A punch that breaks through your opponents guard, not opens it, not a punch that prepares the next punch but a wrecking ball that breaks his guard and lands the strike right after. Right off the hat i think of pumping more in the gym, punch harder on the bag, but im sure there is plenty of stuff im not aware of when training for strong punches. What do you think Tony? Man thanks a lot for your videos, this stuff is gold!

I use a 2l soda bottle filled with water. I have been using it as a punching bag since I was a kid. Didnt have access or money for a punching bag. It made my hands strong as i punch bare knuckle due to not having gloves. I also used it for slipping. This video made me feel like i really made the best of what i had at the time. Most of my stuff here at home used to be homemade. I started handwraps by cutting a shirt, made a homemade punching bag by tying up a bag filled with small styrofoam balls (its used for lying down or chilling). Until we got actual handwraps and gloves, still the same punching bag and everything else is drills without equipment.

@@Nielsslieker it was more of a side crunch I thought. According to Joey Hadley. It doesn't cause back problems I don't think. I just googled it and Mike Tyson was injured due to a spinal issue from a motorcycle accident not because the slis were unnatural. Not that it is unnatural for me either. I just have the side of my abs sore but no issue with my back maybe I'll feel it later on.

Another great video - my trainer has me use the slip bad but never rotated my body 90 degrees for the bag to simulate the hooks - simple but brilliant. I’m a big fan of tools to make the head movement muscle memory. Tony - your videos are fantastic. My favorite of all the training videos on KZbin.
@kiowhatta14 жыл бұрын
I have one I made - I used an 'ockey' strap which is a cheap bungee type cord with two plastic hooks on the end that people typically use for strapping down load's on their cars etc. I bought a small bag of decorative pebbles from the $2 shop, hooked the mesh-like bag over the hook, the other hook to the ceiling and it swings back and forth. Instead of buying expensive headgear, I wear a thick beanie which doubles as a slight protective layer for my head for this exercise or when light sparring. I find loading it up with something that will sting a bit like rocks or pebbles automatically raises my awareness level. I don't mind getting whacked above the eyebrows which helps to remind me to keep my chin tucked in, etc. Also, if the bag sways off the centre line it's great for prompting me to adjust my stance (pivoting) which I find is the hardest thing to do out of all boxing technique.

Tony - Some of us want to buy one of your boxing tees or tank top BUT - we need a reason and "excuse" when asked as to "why are we wearing these". For those not near your area and can't do your program yet - direct us to 4 to 7 of your videos and then give the "authorized word from Tony Jeffries" that we have "completed your initiation training" (or whatever) and are authorized now to purchase and wear this now EARNED tee or tank top". Now you have a "committed follower, a product purchaser, and someone 5-times more likely to buy your program" (yes, Marketing is "my bag" but forget that because ... this will work!!!) --- Thanks for all your shares!!!

Tony, I really enjoy your channel. My wife and I are watching your videos and I'm training her in the park, 3x per week. She's doing great. It might be a little unorthodox, but I would really appreciate it if you could make a video that teaches women how to defend against male street attackers. I'm teaching her slips, shuffles, rolls, getting inside, plus a bunch of Muay Thai strikes. I'm teaching her to never engage in a fight with a man if she can run away - but if she cannot, make sure she is the last woman he ever attacks.

For the slowness, moving left and right (and vice-versa) while it is coming will make it more challenging (even left-right-left, if you could). Another trick is to move away a bit more than needed; it will require more speed and make it easier to use correctly in competitions.

Good thing about the slip bag is that its like the cheapest bag you can buy. $20 which is like 3-4 cheap lunches and you have a bag you can use for almost life (its not like a heavy bag where the straps wear out etc).
