I do have to say that I heavily disagree with ENFPs being all about status. While we are aware of how we appear to others and care about what others think like most feelers, we largely march to the beat of our own drum. People initially think we are generic but then realize there is a whole layer of depth, an abstract mind, and a zany nature when they really get to know us. We know how to fake fitting in, but we don't actually fit in. And we are significantly more likely to befriend and/or date "uncool" people because we like interesting folks who make us think and we genuinely care for and are interested in people regardless of who they are. Playing a social game to elevate myself sounds like lame, contrived bs if you ask me.

So I could see him looking at you as if you were toxic to the other employees and the company as a whole. Again, I agree, regardless it wasn’t your fault. It probably would have worked better if you pulled him aside in private and expressed your opinions and others expressed their opinions w/him in private too. Again, still not fair. I have to say, as an ENFP preference predominantly from multiple tests and revisits, I really appreciate how much effort you put into these lectures. I've always tried to view all your input objectively especially the ones regarding ENFP and honestly I used to get a little annoyed when you would seemingly bash ENFPs for how selfish we can be, but I definitely see where you are coming from now. I first viewed this video about a year ago and didnt really gain that much from it as I was more immature and didnt understand cognitive functions as well as I do now. I like how you used an example from your personal experience with two different kinds of ENFPs that being one charitable and one depraved or at least more insecure about their status. I've been consistently viewing myself objectively and agree with your philosophy that the whole point if all this study of theory can potentially aid in further fostering a society where we all understand each other. My point is I that I see where you are coming from and sincerely appreciate the effort you put in to be as informative as possible. Thank you for helping myself and many others attempt to better understand ourselves.

Haha you’re precise af… its remarkable… i keep getting back to your videos every other year and they allways hold ground.. but one thing i would disagree on is that from your perspective enfps take that “passion” bait because theyre naive… for me personally, I’m weak towards any sign of passion in other people because the world seems dull and cold without it. I can find common ground with people striving to do something even if i dont trust them at all.. guess it gets the best of me afterall, but its almost always for some greater good in the long term (even if not mine, doesn’t matter) Also, I often feel highly inteligent people looking down on me when i allow myself a crusade but I consider people underestimating you to be a superpower (somewhat a defense mechanism you dont even need to make any effort to mantain in social interactions) But hey, thanks for what you put out there - really sharp stuff EDIT: may be im not such an enfp because i would know you’re up to something with those donuts 😂

I do see what you mean with ENFP being good sales people and I totally get that and I see I can be that. However, because I have very deep values, I could not see myself selling like a scam to people INTENTIONALLY. Only if I was misguided first myself. I am very strict with what I believe and how I act towards other people and I do think of other people A LOT. I have even been in relationships where my needs where almost completely left out, cause I cared so much of the other person. Sometimes in these videos there is this slight inkling of feeling like you have something a little against ENFP's or thinking that they are some how malicious. My highest goal in life has always been to bring most benefit to other people with my actions and what I do in life - that I how I chose my career, that is how I choose my relationships etc. I can see what you mean with being self-centered, vain (yes I love my clothes and make up), however...I really feel like ENFPs are very good people at heart.

Brilliant, just brilliant. Points to keep in mind with ENFP: Te child reacts to my Ti positively. Yes, once I shared my ontological view of reality and got so excited explaining the new scientific theories I've found to further my understanding there was a definite switch in her perceptions of me. I thought she wouldn't/didn't appreciate such information. Very reputation focused. Absolutely see this. Oh shit, Se demon makes so much sense in hindsight to how she worked with others. Absolutely all about her own comfort, and not at all concerned with other's comfort. Was so confused about this because I was thinking in terms of her Ne/Fi which portrays as an SJW tendency, but didn't understand the Se demon and how it explains her seeming lack of concern for others in the here-and-now, when it isn't in the Ne realm. This produced the strangest sensations in the Fe field. Oh, Te child explains her need to stop and talk with random people. Se demon explains why she doesn't notice/care if she notices that someone else is uncomfortable with this random interaction, and continues on past the point of Fe comfort limit and it is curious watching people's reaction to this use of Te. Holy shit it just dawned on me. I have somehow naturally slipped into a more INFJ role when I'm around her. She naturally makes me focus on my Ni more, and I've been establishing Ti guides to develop my willpower more through this. We also speak in the ethical perspective of Fe and commiserate on the perceived failure of others in this realm. My Ti being dominate has a lot of influence over her Te child, which is why she started acting so charitable in our last interaction. (This natural tendency to sometimes embody the mirror version of other people's cognitive functions explains my chameleon tendency! Even more powerful if you start to consciously arrange yourself in relation to people whose functions you can mirror to further individuate the unconscious aspects of the mirrored functions. fuck yeah.) Yes, the bipolar ontological nature of reality unfolds and is expressed through individuals through the pattern of their greatest strengths being simultaneously their greatest weakness when orientations are shifted. I believe this is why I felt drawn to perceiving my own and other's actions in relation to the maxim of, "what we resist, persists," for so long. Absolutely focused on perceiving the best path for me and interested in helping me achieve that path. Optimistic functions are Ne/Te, pessimistic functions are Fi/Si. Create cognitive axes. (Cognitive orbit-when an ego function is linked with a shadow function.) Si inferior insecurity needs to be eased, Fi parent needs to feel good about decisions. Have to appeal to selfish, status seeking aspects of Fi parent, and reinforce. (So for ENTJ...Te/Se, Ni/Fi. Must ease Fi inferior insecurity (express your value for his "good person" traits), and appeal to Ni (asking questions about things he's already processed through the unconscious so as to allow him to feel powerful through Ni), to get him through negative land and firmly situated into optimistic Te/Se land.) Ni nemesis worries about the future of self and evinornment. (As an owner, paying already earned salary to his employees out of his own pocket isn't charitable, it's baseline contract fulfillment. Though I guess how I could see how the ENFP would view it that way, it's such a weird, fucked way of viewing reality lol....Blah, had to....) Fe critic makes sense in their ability to discount and be critical of what others need from the underlying social currents (Fe) to feel comfortable and produce efficiently. Jesus, I'll remember to not follow her anywhere where she'd have direct supervision over me lol. Yes, gratitude. Need to continue to develop overt actions of gratitude in every aspect of my inner and outer life as much as I can currently. Totally see the snowflake. So basic propaganda techniques work coupled with data points, verifiable or not. Actually, I'm well studied and passionate about a certain subject she automatically discounted, and all I really seemed to have to do was be passionate in my explanations, logically consistent, and impress upon her that I had readily available studies/reputable sources to back up my claims, or I wouldn't even be making the claims and she was already almost thoroughly swayed. She does love donuts... She's awesome and I enjoy learning how to operate in the outer world better through her influence. I'm grateful she's my friend.

Just want to ask a question relating to your content before @18:26 (where I paused to type this haha) : do you think ENFPs are self-serving then... if we do things for others but intrinsically do it ultimately for ourselves? Fellow ENFP myself, at least I've tested the same 4 times, I'm interested... but still testing it out for now. Great thought-provoking video
@spannycat23 жыл бұрын
I don't know if any human can actually conceptualize helping others for no self-serving reason. I do it because I get happy when they are happy. That's also a selfish reason. Some people do it because its the right thing to do which also isn't altruistic because they are just following a rule.

Once again I have to disagree with one of your points. Any time that I am ever in a social situation with another person, their comfort comes first, without hesitation. I would inconvenience myself before I would EVER inconvenience another person or make them uncomfortable in my presence, and that includes in public. We are lovers of people, not selfish narcissists. So far though, this is still an awesome video! 9:53

Not only was I in a cult, I see that I have cult leader qualities. What I sell is information and promises of well being and knowledge. The thing that attracts me to a seller is if I see the seller has knowledge, power, wisdom or true peace of mind - but only if those things are way superior to mine. The thing that seals the deal is if I believe that they completely believe in what they are saying and have integrity and can demonstrate how what they are selling is benefitting them. Sounds logical, but we are not usually dealing in concrete objects but concepts. I'm buying an idea - with no regard to the fact that the idea is being filtered through my subjective experiences and cognition. When I lose belief, I move on like nothing happened but will still rehash dogma from it using my Te from time to time - and I can occasionally get triggered or even paranoid when I perceive or hear things that go against it. When I try to sell the idea on, I do genuinely believe that I am helping people, but it is tied up in my ego and I see it now. I'm much better at seeing when I am doing this these days though.

I actually have a cousin who’s an ENFP who is in a cult... like, in a destructive cult. Have you ever thought about discussing your experience in a cult like environment, such as what got you in and what made you leave? Not saying you should be like Chris Shelton, but I’m wondering if you might have any insight on socializing someone to be wanting to exit the cult?

I would never, in a million years, trust a billionaire over the hypothetical guy up the street. I tend to be skeptical of everything because we live in a culture of disinformation and misinformation. Sources do not matter to me at all... what matters is that the information provided is of a sound nature... for instance, I'm listening to you and agree with a majority of your points, but I do know myself well enough to also know that many of these "darker qualities" do not apply. Tank you! I have two follow up question: How can you social engineer an ENFP in a personal relationship when there is no room for data and numbers? Is that possible too? And can an ENFP respect someone who is a great person for example an ENFJ, but they are not very smart? Or would that be a permanent problem?
@CSJoseph6 жыл бұрын
yeah just throw authors at them. ENFJs can be more intelligent anyone else if the ENFP is willing to slow down for them, so yes.

I'm an ENFP woman. I think we fall for intelligent, successful or popular people . Cause we know that beside them we will keep growing, expanding, get better status and feel stimulated . We need to look up on our partners, cause we move fast, we can easily outpace people and feel frustrated that we are not on the same page anymore. We also fall for kind hearted people cause they make us feel closer to our charity side, they remind us that we need to think about others. Also fall for those who validate us and make us feel confortable and very very special, this who accept who we are. They are the most susceptible to social engineer us ahaha... It happened to me once, however at some point we always end up realizing that we've been manipulated, our demon come out, and guess what happens ? This is when we get freaking good with manipulation, that will backfire on you... Be careful when playing this game with an ENFP...

Would it be correct to assume the opposite logic for ENFPs to be hypervigilant of others who may attempt to emulate the INFJ in order to socially engineer (or manipulate) the ENFP?
@shannonlogue55856 жыл бұрын
Seeing the pattern here with these social engineering episodes, I would personally be on the lookout (as an INFJ) for others emulating ENFP traits out of suspicion that they are trying to manipulate me in some way. (Is that my INFJ paranoia coming out? ;))
