Getting a bunch of these tools - I have 10 rental properties and the renters constantly lock their keys inside the house, or the wife or boyfriend / girl friend or husband has them in their car at work and I just locked the house and can't get in. If I'm already in town and don't have my landlord key set, I have to go home and get them, or keep these in the truck and use them to open the door. I charge the renters $20 if I have to come and open the door, and doing this 3 times will pay for all this stuff !!!!! Keep making these great videos with links to new lock opening tools !!!!!! what makes the lock cylinder more difficult to pick in the correct direction? in my experience, a few styles of deadbolts rotate opposite of the bolt. does the "turn" of the inside bolt have a direct relation to the outside lock cylinder?
@DarkEmpathy1872 жыл бұрын
Murphy's Law .... for whatever reason, it will "always be easier" to pick to the lock position. In most cases you can pick it unlocked properly, but sometimes those damn things will only pick one way, which as luck would have it, is the locked position. Always have a plug spinner, and if you can afford it, don't get the plastic $10.00 special. They don't always have enough torque to spin the cylinder properly.

I'm a retired locksmith. The plug spinner doesn't destroy the lock. All it does is simulate a VERY fast key turn. Much like the old trick of pulling a tablecloth out from under the dishes, it relies on inertia to keep the pins up, while the chambers in the plug shoot past.

I don't know anything about picking locks but can't you just put tension towards the opposite direction, counter clockwise while picking?

This shows that with time a thief can get by any keyed lock. Any suggestions on the most secure locks? I realize that if somebody wants in bad enough there is no stopping them. Cheers

While a thief is messing with the lock the wireless alarm system has already notified

Look up the Lock Picking Lawyer on YT for examples (no affiliation). Look up his bucket list or whatever he calls it, you'll see it on his list of uploads. Those are his challenging locks and a good place to start if you're looking to source a better design. If browsing his uploads, the length of the upload generally indicates the difficulty of the lock. If you haven't discovered LPL yet, prepare for binge worthy content overload. -Jake

No lock is thief proof. If someone wants in, they'll find a way. When the lock is too complex, they find an easier way in.. like smashing a window. Deterring a thief (with home alarm signs, or beware of Rottweiler) goes a long way.

@@electronicsNmore well many guys like to be in jail because they are safe in there nobody can do them any harm and they don't need to work and they eat good food they don't need to pay rent or nothing and they have a sweat life, the only thing that they are missing is freedom.

@error.4186 жыл бұрын
@@richardjackson9083 Yeah, no, not true at all. Locksmith work is not illegal. Picking your own locks is not illegal. Thieves don't pick locks, they smash windows.

There is a dead bolt lock on my closet door. There is a safe with a lot of money in there. The safe is bolted to a shelf and a wall. I am single with nobody else having a key. If I die it will be hard to get the money.

Once they find your body, they'll open up the closet door and drill open the safe.

Nah you just repeat the same points over and over and over like a broken record. You don't have to explain 7 times why you are doing each step. One and done, second time if you need to clarify. Don't need to explain the same things 7 ways to Sunday like you ate talking to a trauma patient
