Nice video Alex, very well explained, well done for a clean and tidy job, keep up the good work. I've been in the game 52 years now and you can still learn little things from the way that others work, not only that it's great to see others sweating it out ... hahaha ;-) ....

Thanks for the feedback. 52 years, long crack. I must admit the plastering game has changed a fair amount in recent years. Some of the techniques are better than others. Generally we pick and chose the method we thing is best given the substrate. Even if we vetted flack for not ONLY being traditional.

Lovely work👌🏻 almost identical to my method. I personally love sponge floating too, lovely finish time and time again, blemish free. Find it useful on uneven walls where the plaster is applied heavier in some places, also make a huge difference on over-skims with different surfaces like plasterboard, paint and bonding patches all on the same wall. Great to have in the kit bag.

Good video Alex, a lot if plasterers say sponge floating weakens the plaster yet to see that myself but the finish you leave speaks for itself 👍
@danielhayes11893 жыл бұрын
it does weaken the plaster. Research bond and aggregate and you will understand, also British Gypsum does not agree with using their product this way. No need for a 2 coat system. Here is the correct way. traditional plastering kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH3IqJqbqdiLqac

Very well explained video. Impartial and informative! A lot of big ego people out there and this clearly explains the reasons why these methods are used. Work smarter not harder. 👍

I agree if it makes life easier why not do it I find it helps slot using the sponge 🧽

I'm a traditional plastering man but have recently started to sponge float like this method. It is alot easier & leaves a lovely finish. Is the reasoning behind sponge floating to get the walls flatter?
@PaulCloves Жыл бұрын
It’s very useful when ur getting areas of bubbles or working in very constricted areas where u can’t get a descent arm sweep with a trowel, u don’t have to worry so much about getting it bang on flat ( cos u can’t) u can sponge it flat after it’s picked up a bit it’s a useful method then

Try laying on & doubling up with the same mix! Wait 5-10 min then sponge float, flatten and two trowels! Goes in lovely especially in the winter. Summer you might not get away with it mind

That electrician sucked... Those boxes are way out! Couldn't keep my eyes off them the whole video. One is about 600mm from the corner, the other about 250mm. What's that one in the middle of the wall for? Can't wait to start plastering but I have some serious work to do first
@ryanbeckerleg83263 жыл бұрын
Do you sponge all your work?
@asaxon97512 жыл бұрын
Agree with previous, you've been on that wall at least 6 times!!!! And you returned to the trowel twice to finish, lot of work for nothing if you ask me

HOW IS IT LESS WORK ???
@michaelburns59673 жыл бұрын
You are wrong about not being able to sponge on large sets,say a 40m set as soon as you have speedskimmed the 2nd coat flat sponge 20m then turn back and trowel or speedskin the sponge lines out then carry on and sponge the next 20m , not a problem. Good videos.
@AlexMorleyPlastering3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Great to hear your method of hitting big sets. 80 m² a day is good going. 👍💪 keep up the good work.

What is the point of all you have done before if you still go back to the trowel. Frank Walker the Clinchies ,Dave Woolly the Kirkhams P T Corkhill, would turn in their graves watching this . How do you make money.
