I love this breakdown. I believe the most important takeaway from this entire hand is just how bad a spot you can find yourself in when you fail to take control of a hand like this preflop. A small four bet would have avoided so much pain.

I like the break down...at first, I was wondering why the topic was called spotting a backdoor flush with that flop but then realized what was happening... in my defence, I was washing the dishes at the beginning. But overall, great video.

Can someone explain why Bart said it’s a close call for Matt L on the flop with a 5 outer against a 2/3rds size bet? The odds don’t seem to be there. What am i missing?

✋ Question for BART What 4 bet size preflop should Jacob have used to fold Jeremy's Kx suited? 4x, 5x, 6x or higher?

If this is a legit question: KKK33 beats 888KK. Bigger full house.

I don't even think we can move V off of a K when Front door flush comes in , ( if we had air on the river some how) ; Moving rec players off top pair is usually burning money so trying to bluff them off a K in this spot is just suicidal imo

Excellent analysis as always Bart - and very well articulated I think it would be even more interesting to see what would’ve happened if Jeremy did not have Ks full and rather had something more of a bluff catcher such as trip Ks bad kicker (based on the action hate to see him getting her with much of order like TT or JJ) .... , and Jacob made the same play to see if Jeremy would come to the same conclusion and found a fall (obviously he’s raising the 2nd nuts here).

Bart, Big fan here. General question about the games over in texas. I play here in cali from the windmills over to the cardrooms in the LA area..I notice that the 5-5 games i see streaming fromTCH generally play HUGE. Im wondering why chips seem to fly around there in those games. Ive seen a couple vlogs and streams and it just seems that players generally have way wider ranges and are willing to see flops with suited trash etc etc. Why do you think the games play bigger there? The fact that property is cheaper there im assuming...anyway I would love to hear back from you man
@SerErryk2 жыл бұрын
Poker is newer to Texas as I believe it was legalized less than a decade ago. There's lots of "old money" in Texas, which attracts alot of rec players.

What does JACOB do if he makes flush, does he just lead out on river?? Isn’t it better to check raise flop???
@princea58864 жыл бұрын
It's probably fine to lead the river with a flush, especially since he seems to be at least somewhat balanced by also leading with some bluffs. You can't cr that flop very often as the sb flatter since the 3bettor has AA, AK, KK, 88, (and i guess K3 and K8) and you only have 88 and maybe 33.

at 3:05 why does 84s have 36% equity when AJs only has 33%? how is 84s better than AJs here

First, let me say I enjoyed your commentary. However, this was played like a textbook missed flush draw. At best Jacob represented AK which was meaningless as was 88. You definitely detailed a way to assess the viability of a backdoor flush, but this hand texture is obvious, and literally anyone should be able to sniff this out. I would be interested in analysis with a better hand or with this hand with physical tells also mentioned.
@davidr16204 жыл бұрын
I think you’re correct, though a semi thinking player won’t just bet on the river like that with missed hearts. He’s got to be representing something. What is he reping? The most obvious answer is dimanonds. It is true in a lot of low stakes games like this (games which I play and I’m admittedly not great at), people will just bet big after missing their draw and not have any idea what they’re reping. But in a deep game like this, they’re at least going to have the sense to rep at least diamonds plus.
@cameronno60394 жыл бұрын
@@davidr1620 I disagree because that's exactly what Jacob did. It's certainly rarer, but it still happens. Given the action on each street, a backdoor flush is only possible if Jacob had A3 suited on that board and thought he was facing a bluff. No player would call 2 streets with bottom pair with K high board that was 3-bet pre-flop, so A3 is unrealistic. AK, 88, busted flush, and 2 pair are the only hands that make any sense, and of those, only 88 and a bluff could lead out. As he explained in the video, a backdoor flush made no sense with the K and 8 already on the board. So, to me, a hand with more variety would provide better material for explanation.
@Gos12345674 жыл бұрын
David R you need to watch the video again,repping the diamond flush makes no sense at all with the pre flop and flop action
@CN4891-c1z4 жыл бұрын
He's pretty much only repping AK or 88. I'm under the impression that Jacob doesn't know that "repping" is even a thing though. The extent of his thought process was pretty much, "I missed, guess I'll try to act like a have diamonds".
@WillPage4 жыл бұрын
@@cameronno6039 In small stakes I think a small subset of players w/ AQdd or A3dd may even continue for one bet only if they feel the lead is suspect or to see if they can make a pair or FD on the turn. This must be considered as possible however unlikely. I am not the greatest player getting around but I think I give people too much credit as the likelihood of diamonds coming in here would have certainly been 97% eliminated if I were in this spot. If I had trip K's only I would be a little concerned about 88 but it's a call. End of. Still a well articulated video.
