Good men play an important role in our society. When they are good they contribute to our lives and enrich our world. But when they are sociopathic or unhealthy, they contribute to a lot of heartache - especially if they display a sociopathic pathology of character and uses their social capital to harm others. Sociopathic men deceive, manipulate, use money and power to charm, abuse their families, and traumatize their victims.
Can you imagine a child growing up under the sociopathic behavior of a father?
Can you imagine a male child - who often depends a lot on the father for identity development - looking up to them and their sociopathic behaviors?

My mother, sister, brother and 2 ex's. Thankfully I now understand what and who I was dealing with. It is apparent that until we can identify them and have understanding we feel this crazy comfort with like minded sociopaths. Because we grew up with it we don't recognize them. Even though we don't want that type in our lives. It's education, understanding, being able to identify them, knowing how to defend ourselves from them, and how to go no contract even when we, heartbreakingly, need to go no contact with good people because the good people are the loose links those types use to get to us, to control and harm us. Once we do, we can freely reinvent ourselves, live with peace and love, and have the life we truly want and are meant to live

That might be because men are typically overt using their strength and are more likely to resort to violence. Where as women are far more likely to gossip, use manipulation, more likely to fall under the radar.

It's not a need. It's a compulsion, a desire. Genuine needs are for things like food, water, oxygen. Things a person literally needs to survive. We have to stop calling evil/unhealthy compulsions "needs." That just feeds into the gaslighting and enabling. Nobody has a *need* to harm, control, or use others.

I'm 100% convinced my Dad was a sociopath and a narcissist. He had a few things that gave him away in my opinion. His facial expression was pretty flat, I believe this is called flat affect (or reduced affect). His eyes used to scare me, they were very still and calm, predatory. His eyes appeared unfeeling and reminded me of the dead eyes of a shark. In a conversation he always had to be right. He usually had a smirk on his face. He was just an average Joe in an average job, but obviously felt superiour. He always put me down and was negative my whole childhood, but it got much worse when I became a teenager. He couldn't handle me having my own opinions and saw my development as a threat.

They all laughed over my mother the second she took her last breath. I now realize why she got so sick it was from the abuse. Now I am the big-time target even worse. This sounds just like my dad,all started in my teens when I became my own person with my own opinions. If I disagreed he rage and got angry,calling me bad names ,telling me I should be more like my sister(the perfect child) putting me down,disregarded my feelings.extremly neglectful emotionally. He was all abouth his own interest and self image. He also controlled my mom,she never stood up to him,and when she did try,nothing resolved. cant control his emotions. I delt with so mutch anxiety because of him. He never learned me to drive a car. I been confused my whole life but now I understand everything. Didnt help that I struggled with undiagnosed ADHD started in my teens.they never took me to a doctor did nothing. Now I understand why I attract so many narcissist/sociopaths

This is exactly why I don't date anymore. I've been married twice and divorced twice. Sociopathic men are not men. They're very toxic unhealthy relationships when dealing with sociopathic. They are very abusive and some are narcissistic and a sociopathic. I'm not in a relationship with no one else and I don't want to be with no one else. It's terrible being married to men who have this. Some young children can have sociopathic and narcissistic personality disorders also. It's absolutely horrible when you have to deal with more than one with these disorders.

I really cannot blame you! I am not a fan of "dating" either. I do believe there is a difference between "dating" and sharing dinner/your life with someone you may want to spend a lifetime with. Dating can be extremely traumatizing to say the least.

Wow my ex had a lot of these traits. But lay people like myself are tempted to label people who have hurt us as "narcs" or "sociopaths" because it is comforting to our pain and need for an answer. How you feel around toxic behavior is a huge sign. When my ex was in my life I had lots of anxiety, increased heart rate when he called, intrusive thoughts like crazy, and my jaw even started aching during the day.

Most, if not all, manly men stereotypes who served as prime examples of masculinity for generations show most, if not all, of the sociopathic traits mentioned here. John Wayne, Batman, 007... The culture was pushing sociopathic behavior as something to be looked up to.

Hard to accept but pretty sure my father is a sociopath. He has had problem behaviour since youth. All I remember from him is insulting me as a young child, and throughout my life, insulting my mother, multiple affairs, missing special days, beating me, never showed up to my graduation, throwing me to the streets as a teen, then finding me, bringing me home, beating me again and threatening to do it again. He made me believe since I was a child that I was a bad seed and I believe used me as a punching bag. When I left at 40, he tried to make me feel guilty, stalked me, but I really went into hiding, to this day no one knows where I live, because he is that crazy. I hate him so much.

I called out a Sociopath my sister was dating 8 years ago after he manipulated crisis after crisis in our family for years and was a pathological liar/theif. Told him exactly what he was, all ofv he times in the past I was aware he was lying, and warned him if he came near me ever again I was going to hurt him bad (i had to because if i didnt then he would have tried to come "reason" with me). I havent seen or talked to him since , even moved across the country last year, but to this day he still rants and raves about me on his social media 8 years later. He has no association with our family as of 4 years ago. I get a good laugh now and again when I see his posts going insane.

I have a man in and out of my life for the past five years. I have been studying this disorder for quite sometime and I wonder now if he would fall into this category. There was always a lot about him that seemed off to me. First the charm I was mesmerized at how he could walk into any room and control the environment no matter what. When we were together we’d go to a work function and a man with very little rank like him within 15 min he’d be laughing come up to me and said “babe we’ve been invited to dinner with the colonel/gen/SMG etc. and I’d be shocked he even gained an audience with them. Charm he always seemed to spend far more money then I thought he could be earning. He knows some of my abusive history so now he will pop smoke and when he wants to come back for whatever reason he always comes right when I’m involved with a not so great man and he sort of “saves the day” being a very large muscular man and very violent he easily gets the “bad man” out of my life. I also have to be very careful with my own language he LOVES that I am extremely successful and shows that off when he’s in my life BUT if I get close to his level he gets very angry. I hid my promotion for two months because I promoted before him. When he found out I immediately said it was no reflection on him and it was silly but he was infuriated saying I never earned it that there’s no way I’ll ever outrank him again. He always praises my accomplishments but also reminds me they aren’t on his level. He switches emotionally all the time calling late at night saying I should be his wife to saying he needs space we aren’t good together etc. odd moments when he calls with his friends saying things like “watch this I’ll get her to believe I’m actually gonna be with her forever” whenever he feels I’m making decisions on my own or I get too attached to him he just disappears no warning usually to another country but every few months sometimes a year or so he finds his way back to me. It’s been almost 6 years since we’ve met. Am I involved with a possible sociopath?

Thank you for this. I’m trying to understand right now if the man I was seeing romantically for six weeks earlier in the year was perhaps a sociopath. He contains many of the traits you described in this video; he was very charming in what I now recognize as a shallow way, and I believe he was very manipulative as well. He lied a lot (more than I think I realized) and preyed upon my younger age and naiivete (I 20F, he 25M; he was my first relationship, unfortunately). I never once saw him express true concern or emotion for another person; he actually smiled and laughed when I told him things he’d done to emotionally hurt me - tears were literally in my eyes. He once told me that people who disrespect him “are pathetic and undeserving.” And he always told me: “I need to be in control. I need to be in control. When I’m not in control, I shut people out.” He hurt me so much emotionally - six weeks for a false relationship, only for him to lie to my face, laugh at me, and cut me out forever. It’s because I didn’t want to have sex with him, I’m pretty sure. Too much to explain concisely, but my mind is just reeling and the memories of his absolute apathy towards me are still traumatic to me five months later. At first people would tell me I was just heartbroken and that it was just a breakup, my first breakup moreover, but that’s never felt like the right explanation; I know my feelings and it’s not heartbreak I’m going through. I do think I’ve been traumatized by his behavior, and your video provided me with more clarity and closure than I’ve been able to find elsewhere, least of all from him. I don’t know if he’s a sociopath but I have my suspicions.

It's called "Duper's Delight". Google it. I am so sorry you went through this. There is a documentary on Buddha that changed my life along with Jesus Of Nazareth. I realized this moment in time we are passing through is just a grain of sand on a beach and that your father is just a yellow jacket or wasp. He is not your real father. He's nothing. There is something out there. I don't think there is, I know. If people want to call it God ok. The closest description I can give is just pure raw love. Took me years of meditation, study and prayer to reach the place i'm at and if I don't keep practicing I can go back to that place where the opinion of the yellow jackets matter. They were always going to be exactly what they are you just happened to be connected to them.

Do some sociopathic fathers help their children get jobs and let them live with them? My therapist thinks my dad may be one, but it's hard for me to tell when he does that and he says I love you and hugs me. It sends so genuine. He gives me advice on my anxieties and everything. I think it's all at a cost though. I have to be there emotionally for him. He gets upset if I don't do stuff that he asks.

Sounds like my ex husband now he is with my son who’s now 17. My ex always went to our son filling his war with his woes and he was so little . I never knew this was happening . He’s callous he gaslights both kids but my son wants his fathers genuine love but their father places conditions on love. So both kids are or always reacting and either feel like the happy with them or if bad grades comes up he becomes callous telling our daughter that she’s just a disappointment . Our Daughter is struggling with anxiety and depression and has lost over 30 lbs in a year which is making me look too skinny . But it’s bad how dismissive he becomes if they don’t make him look good cause it’s all about him If makes me sick .

Brain tumors can cause this behavior too right? There was that one BIG serial killer who before his excision said somethings wrong in my head and said please look at my brain. After he was out to death they cut open his head and found a brain tumor on the specific part of the brain that controls that stuff. They couldn't prove it caused it but........ Pretty freaky if you ask me

Well...no. Everyone falls somewhere on the scale of sociopathy but most sociopaths tend to be at the top of the scale. The behaviors discussed could be displayed in almost all humans. But that doesn't mean they are sociopaths. And sociopaths may engage in the many behaviors found amongst humans but what makes them different is that there is a high level of antisocial behavior and disregard for the rights of others.

Hello can frontal lobe brain injury be a cause of my husband falling into this type of behavior.i have known him over 30 years we have only been married 8 .pryer to our marriage he had a front lobe brain aneurysm . He didn't have any of the traits when we married 8 years ago but over the years slowly he developed every trait listed..I know that if it is due to the brain injury the can't help it but it no less hurtful and disruptive to our lives We have listened to so many of the videos hoping he would see this and let's get him /us help but no luck he keeps dening this is him.. I don’t want to go into detail as she views my comments however I don’t know why we protect women so much. The worst humans I’ve ever met were female. Maybe it’s difficult to see from being a female. I think I just got rid of one last week! He turned SO cold one night when I shared about a driving instructor who stalked me! He actually laughed?? I was scared of him after that and my cat hated him and wouldn’t come out from under the bed when he visited. I was assertive with him and put up reasonable boundaries and instead of respecting them he Unfriended me for apparently “hassling him” when I simply said his words weren’t helpful to me after he started blaming me for a situation that unfolded legally that didn’t go well and upset me! He is just devoid of empathy and couldn’t say anything comforting but just immediately blamed me without listening to what I said and it actually wasn’t my fault but he was obsessed with me taking responsibility yet never took any in his own wrong doings..like how he intentionally did not tell two women I know that he had herpes and didn’t use a condom and then blamed them later when they got it for not putting a condom on and said “there’s no proof they didn’t already have it???” He KNEW he had it and didn’t give them any informed options then blamed them?? He tried to use this argument and rationalise to me after I told him to get lost after he Unfriended me. I stood up for myself and my right to be assertive with my boundaries and if he could t deal with it then too f ing bad

Why do you think sociopathic traits are attractive to females in the first place? I see a lot of “victims” here who had sociopathic boyfriends/husbands. What do you think it is? I suspect that in the right doses, some of these personality characteristics/ when used in the service of others, are quite attractive to females.

That's a good question. And I think you are right. I think, professionally, that women are attracted to men who appear independent, competent, and has a bit of edgyness to their character. Sadly, sociopaths and psychopaths can "act this out" and get what they want. The psychopath becomes even more believeable because they plan things out so well that the score on the independence and competence scale tends to go up in the eyes of most women. @@TherapistTamaraHill well in reference to the big 5, a trait called disagreeableness is reliably higher then men then in women. It’s the number 1 predictor of going to prison. It’s a Pareto distribution. That’s why there are reliably more men then women in prison. The reverse is also true. Opposite to disagreeableness, more women fit into an agreeable temperament, which as I’m sure your familiar with, is associated with care and concern, and in the extreme, I would assume those people would tend to get taken advantage of by aforementioned sociopaths:D

Hi Tamara! Amazing video!! I let them mistreat my beautiful, put her into the shelter for just being a sweet, innocent puppy. Meanwhile, I realized that I neglected her. I didn’t protect her or keep her safe. Then when I saw a dead bird on my phone, two months later, I went to get her and it was way too late! When they told me to pick her up, I was angry about something. Then I felt like I wasn’t going to anything for her. The Veterinarian told me he wanted me to surrender my dog. I told the Doctor that I paid another hospital $500 for my dog to be kennel when I went out of town. I didn’t take action to pick up my beautiful puppy! I was confused and zombie like. Now I’m heartbroken and in a world of pain inflicted by my narcissistic father!!

I thought a sociopath qualifies automatically as a narcissist but not vice versa. What does being street smart and knowing how to get what you want have anything to do with not caring if you kill an animal and/or intelligence? Were you trying to talk about a sociopath or just shifty characteristics ? I don't know much but I was pretty sure that in order to be considered a sociopath clinically you need to meet X amount of these characteristics characteristics combined. It really sounds like you're just taking narcissistic characteristics.... but I'm no expert.

I’ve noticed that This is The Home Depot Management and supervisors to the teeth! I’ve seen otherwise decent people come back from Home Depot’s Management training in Atlanta being exactly like this! People who get “turned” as a direct result of the daemonic programming are what I honest feel are people with an already broken moral compass 🧭
