How to sprout and peel lima beans/field beans/ vaal
Sprouting is a process where seeds and pulses are germinated. The seeds/ pulses are soaked in water for few hours. When these soaked pulses are exposed to right moisture and temperature, they get sprouted. Sprouting enhances the nutritional value of the pulses, seeds and aids better digestion.
You can sprout moth beans (matki), green gram (moong), black gram (chana), fenugreek seeds (methi seeds), whole red lentils (whole masoor), finger millet (ragi), quinoa etc. Germination time varies depending on the seeds/ pulses and also temperature. For eg. Moth beans (matki) need less soaking time, whereas black gram (chana), lima beans/field beans (vaal) need to be soaked for a longer period of time.
Today, let us see how is lima beans (vaal) sprouted and peeled. Sprouted Lima beans is used in number of Maharashtrian/ Gujarati dishes.

I tried to make sprouts this way but nothing happened, for me it’s a fail recipe.

@@vanitascorner yes, yours look perfect that’s why I decided to do it your way, maybe because we don’t have enough hot weather here in UK. Now I’m trying with cloth method, let’s see if that works. I will let you know. Thanks for your reply.

@@anjnag6965 That could be the rreason. Moreover vaal beans take long to sprout compared to other pulses. You can try with moong/matki ...they sprout faster. Right now in Mumbai weather, even the vaal beans are sprouting faster. 😃

@@vanitascorner i have done in the past with cloth method and it worked beautifully, must be in hot summer time but it was long time ago so i kind of thought let me watch a new few videos , your appeared first so I watched it, and liked it. Tomorrow morning i will be able to find out if they have sprouted or not with the cloth. I have left it in the microwave, switched off of course.😃
