I wish I could love this a MILLION times. I'm 44 and took my first baby steps on a stage. In my youth, I performed in community theatre for a while, but I was taught I wasn't pretty enough to pursue my dreams... after years of living in Kenya Africa, I am studying my heart out, reading books, watching videos, practicing monologues, and I'm moving back to the USA, staying in Philadelphia with five kids in tow as a single mother just so I can find my way... starting with taking acting classes, voice classes, improve, etc.. and maybe performing in web series or as an extra... and hopefully will go from there... I have SO much to learn, but acting is in my BONES, and I'm not going to let my age keep me from pursuing it. I will just keep practicing and studying because every element of the process is wonderful. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME HOPE and for sharing your videos.

I love this video, although I warn you about the advice you gave at the end about either being curious or being serious. At one point in time you and many other actors were first curious, or just experimenting before you became serious. You only become passionate about an area after you've spent a considerable amount of time developing a relationship with that art, it doesn't just rise out of nowhere.

Now- This is the luck of the draw. And I tried out acting and modeling as a hobby (I was the curious one) a couple months ago, had photoshoots and still no acting classes timed in, not going against anyone who has been in the art for years and people who dedicated themselves to this haha, I went into my first audition early to get a feel of it and if I got rejected then oh well! I did this cause I felt like if I wait and "perfect" my acting I would be only more nervous to get it right. I walked in confident, and very happy. I showed up early, had my lines memorized, and even when I messed up I continued and didnt apologize, I ignored my mistake. I made the part of a major role in a movie named "Park Street" ! First Audition, First Movie role!! anything is possible:) your biggest obstacle is yourself, dont be afraid to fail♡ I have no experience at all and I went in and made it happen!

As someone who is SUPER serious about acting, I've never been more confident that I've wanted to do something. You want to be the best, and the person that the casting director thinks is best for the role. Your odds of getting the role are increased by being perfect. The whole point is that you want the role

I feel like I'm good at acting by myself then as soon as people watch me I just freeze up and become a robot. Spending this lockdown really trying to gain confidence and hopefully if the Corona virus eases up I can go to my first audition soon. But when she was talking about how if you're serious about acting you don't even know what you'll do if you fail that's exactly how I feel right now, I just want this more than I want air and I will do anything to make it because it's all or nothing for me

You said not knowing what else you could possibly do but acting is what a serious actor is. That's the exact way I feel. I know I have to do something to feed and do everything a father needs to do, for my family. I never doubted that I wanted or am going to become an actor. But I've watched probably all of your videos and you say that there is room for those that truly want to become an actor/actress. You will see me one day on TV in a program and as a movie star in a major motion picture. I'm 33. I've been in the industry since I was 16. I love everything about the industry, so far that I've seen. I know that there are negative people and positive people in this industry. I'm one of the positive ones. Makes a lot of sense! Also there is often a personal story behind some reactions and even things. In Russia apart from Stanislavsky theory of Mikhail Chekhov is used and respected a lot for creating an authentic character. PS lovely earrings :) look very beatiful with the hair. Hi there, I wanted to share and ask something. I completely get that every actor needs to memorize one's sides, it's professional and significant. But, another thing which comes to mind is, while memorizing, I personally tend to plan the whole scene, how to react and how to be more "PRETENTIOUS" (look good enough, so that the audience likes me) which takes me away from being present in the moment and giving a truthful & honest version of myself. My question is how to manage memorizing, while trying to stay in the moment?
