It very helpful to see what it means instead of just hearing it when tips are suggested. Videos like this really add a dimension of learning that is sorely missing from other instructional/tips videos. Thanks for taking the time and sharing!!

I know sometimes I can even be hard on myself but that is natural. We tend to always want that instant gratification and just having the will to improve is very important. Every once in a while even I will surprise myself with how something turns out. I am glad to hear that my content helps you! Thanks for posting!

This was so fun. What a great exercise! I really struggle with finding the vanishing point of a picture and then trying to figure out where everything goes based on that point. The fourths really helped me and the way you simplified it was awesome. I hope you make more videos like this, it was extremely helpful. Also I think it's worth mentioning that I am a beginner trying to get back into the swing of art after taking much too long of an art hiatus. Thank you!!

Yep, it is just one of the techniques I have done just to make the sketch process a bit easier. I am sure there are much more elaborate ways of doing this. Thanks for posting!

I find that references really get me motivated to replicate them. I also like the challenge of trying to alter and change things to change the composition a bit. It is kinda like turning it into a game then you have a goal. It just makes it more fun :) Thanks for posting bud!

The eraser is not only meant for fixing mistakes. I use it a lot to create depth within a drawing. Taking out key areas of a texture can really add a lot to the drawing. Especially with drawing clouds. But yes, I tend to erase a lot in the beginning of a drawing. Once I have the placement of everything down, I am good to go.

Derwent's are fantastic pencils. I use Faber Castell for my own works but I used to use them a lot in the past. No reason for the switch really. I just like to try out different brands and for some reason I like them a bit better. All artists drawing pencils are about the same in quality. And what is nice is that they are cheap! haha.

A lot of people have different methods. Another one I thought of which I might make a video about later on is to print out a reference like this and do two drawings with it. Do one drawing free hand and see how accurate you are and with the second drawing, trace all the major line work of the reference. Then compare the two and see how close your sketch work was to the reference trace. Then you can see and compare.

Is it recommended for you to get a proper pencil kit / proper drawing paper if you are simply a hobbyist beginner at drawing? (I'm not sure what to get either, everything seems rather pricey)
@wilddesigns8578 жыл бұрын
+jodawgsup No, your best bet is to just grab a piece of paper and pencil and draw what you see. In architecture school our professor simply had us draw a bell pepper in multiple ways even drawing the core of the bell pepper. I do recommend once you get more enthusiastic about your hobby is to buy different hardness of pencil leads. Softer is great for dark shading while harder lead is great for lighter shading. Once you learn some of these basics the rest will fall into place. Experiment with different coloring tools. I use markers and colored pencils, but you can get different effects with each kind.
