My brief summary of their general methodology for a beginner: Use something like Assimil in the beginning to get you started on understanding. Doesn't have to be Assimil - just good beginner materials. Tons of input. Tons of listening/reading, especially at the same time. Move to intermediate podcasts and other materials when you feel capable. These guys don't like to start speaking until around intermediate level (B1-ish).

I agree with you, Davide. You can learn languages at any age.

39:13 Love that. You both have such amazing English. Certainly C2+ and almost native.

They definitely speak English well. I have a strong suspicion that Luca could have developed eloquence if he lived in anglophone country for an extended period of time.

They definitely speak much better than a lot of natives in terms of usage, expressions, flow, clarity etc. (I'm from the US and work with a bunch of people from the UK as well and can't help but notice the myriad of mistakes we generally tend to make while writing & speaking especially those who only speak English, but I digress 😉)

It's funny how brain works. I've never heard, or at least I,ve never been aware of the word "buff". Before listening this video, I've heard the words "history buff" in another video . I look this word up in the dictionary, and a few minutes later I listen in this video " grammar buff". Twenty years learning english. You notice a new word and then you start listening it everywhere. It always amaze me.

I notice that with my Spanish as well. I'll hear a word for the first time and then hear it a bunch more after that, even though I understand so much of what I watch. Like, where was this word before?

Sei molto migliorato Davide! Complimenti!

Love you guys and especially love Davide's podcast/channel. Just a small remark about Luca's microphone, it is very tinny and especially over a normal computer speaker is difficult to listen to for a while.

My husband is from Rome and I learned roman version of some phrases hearing what he was saying and than I discovered it wasn't standard italian 😂 Living in the particular part of a country you learn the local dialect anyway.

I would love to learn Italian but I can't pronounce the alveolar trill so its too embarrassing to speak. Same thing applies to Spanish and Russian.
@vesna-7665 ай бұрын
Oh, how well i understand you. I am Russian and it's such a great problem to say french or german 'r'. That's why i don't learn those languages.(((

@@vesna-766 I tried learning some Arabic and that language has the exact same sound as the French R.

I could hear Luca’s accent but David speaks like someone who was born and raised in the US.

I thought only French speakers couldn't hide their accents when speaking English.
