Also by NO means am I an expert, and I definitely tried to summarize the main things I did to launch my shop! I’ve started my Etsy shop this month. I have been researching and planning for months. I just open haven’t gotten any sales yet because I haven’t done much social media advertising. That’s my next step. I have gotten all my legal documents in place but building a design portfolio for customers to shop is taking a lot of time but I decided to just do it and have 2-3 samples a week. I am also using mockup for some designs too. Sometimes I still scared that the actual items might not look like the same as the mockup and the customers might complain so when I have time I will go back and create a real product for those mockup. Yes I have a passion for creating and seeing my designs on customers who love my products. I will continue to grind. Thanks for this talk.wish you many success in your endeavors!

Great information! I'm having trouble narrowing my niche... I want to do gifts... lots of handmade gifts that will show the recipient that those giving the gift put tons of thought and care into it... shirts, jewelry, Keychains etc. Ughh. Maybe not a great idea??? Also, a bit of trouble coming up with a unique name I LOVE! I had one that just came to me and my family still loves it best, and I keep coming back to it but it incorporates my name and 1 person uses it on FB but with an extra letter. But the domain is a go and other media accounts etc. I wanted something super fun and catchy and thought of great names (I swear I could help others name their business as a career lol) but they were ALL premium domain names that cost over 3000 dollars just up front so can't afford that, at least not now. Plus, people were using them on Facebook without owning the domain but I don't want any legal issues now or if I ever did make it big etc or want to be a jerk to anyone else etc. This is HARD honestly, lol!!! Thought of doing ien and registering etc but my boyfriend thinks that and domain buying is silly now, at least until I know my business does well. But I don't WANT to look at it like that! I want to be like heck yeah my business is gonna do great and thrive!!! But, honestly his thoughts (though he honestly is very supportive, I promise) is having me questioning things. Ughh! 🤔 So, did you wait to see if you sold or could sale items before getting ien and domain etc or get all those squared away first??? I know I'm a new sub and this is super long but, please respond if you can! I really need the advice and possibly just motivation. I've lost a bit due to needing my cricut replaced 2x now waiting on 3rd due to it being defective 3 freaking times!!! So heartbreaking and disappointing that one of my biggest tools needed to do this business has halted my plans. At times it's made me think "is that a sign"? My boyfriend says heck no, that's silly... things happen and its just a bridge to cross before you can fully begin and encouraged me to continue my research and planning etc while waiting on my replacement cricut. I know it’s not mandatory to register your business as an Etsy seller, I would check with Etsy’s policies to see if you can! If not you can always start out and create an Instagram/Facebook page and sell to friends & family 😚 good luck!’

If I could go back and change what I did, I wouldn't yet apply for an EIN & register the business until I was making a substantial amount of money. I had the mentality of "If I'm starting this Etsy shop, I want to treat it like a business from the beginning" which is why I registered!

Hi there! Cricut has this thing called their "Angel Policy" which I suggest you read on their website :) cricut.com/en_us/legal#angel-policy? For the most part you can, but there are certain regulations such as not selling products with licensed characters on them - even if you’ve purchased them through Design Space. Hope this helps!
