Mmmaaannn! I be watching people videos with them saying they have free forms and I be like nope bruh your locs are manipulated which can no longer be considered free forms. I've been free forming from day one (I'm 51/2 months in) and have not manipulated my hair one bit. Enjoying the journey of finding beauty in myself no matter how my hair looks

Wow I am so happy I stumbled upon your channel. I’ve literally been watching other freeform vids about using sponges, brushes, rags, and have even picked up locking gels. My hair is about 2-3 inches long and and locked from using the sponge. I plan on stopping the use of sponging and locking gels now from seeing your vids! I love the information and tips you provide and your content just seems all around organic. I can’t wait to keep watching and learning from your vids as well trusting the process of my hair growth more to do it’s own thing. Is there anything particularly I should do now or should I simply let my hair go to work in its own?

I started my dreads with the sponge 1 month ago, I want to stop, do you think if I stop now and no longer use the sponge I can say that it is freeform or do I cut and restart?
@DOMIBOY
@DOMIBOY 3 жыл бұрын
Most definitely! That's actually a perfect time to slow down on the sponge usage and allowing the hair to organically grow from there. I actually talk about this a bit in my "When to start freeform locs" video. No need to cut and restart. You right on the money!

When you say clean and dry, it causes confusion on whether or not to wash you hair, how can you keep your hair clean if your goal is to keep it dry to lock up
@DOMIBOY
@DOMIBOY 3 жыл бұрын
You allow your hair to dry after you wash it. Using whatever method you so choose. The point is to ensure your scalp is clean with washing, and then after washing you would dry. To dry you can use whichever method you need, towel, air, etc If you need more help I actually have a vid on my page that dives deeper into the specifics of washing.

Should I use oils. I know you said to keep your scalp clean and dry but I usually use SHEa butter to moisturize my hair does that contribute to buildup or is it ok?
@DOMIBOY
@DOMIBOY 3 жыл бұрын
Hey great question - although shea butter is amazing. I'd avoid if getting locs! Because of how thick it is in consistency, once it gets in your locs, it can becomes quite difficult to 100% remove, which can contribute to build up!

So I used a sponge for my hair a couple months ago and decided to truly freeform and some of those twist from the sponge came out when I washed some of them stayed I no longer wash my hair everyday because I’d be taking my natural oils out I don’t cut my hair anymore nor get shape ups the only thing I do is wash it when it needs washing with my drbroners soap (organic) and that’s it it bothers me that the other twist from the sponge are still there is it free form now that I leave it be ? I’ve been free forming for about two three months (truly freeform) if not I’ll cut it off and start over

Hey Skezzy! Hope the journey has been treating you well man 🙏🏾✊🏾 happy to hear you’re going freeform! I think you’re in a great place! So long as you’ve stopped manipulating now, you’re golden! I think initiating free forms using the sponge method is a great way to start- I wouldn’t cut and start over. Now that you’ve cut back on manipulating, as time moves on, your baby locs will continue to grow and evolve! You’ll def have a solid looking crown in no time 👌🏾🙏🏾 ✨ excited for you man!

@zherbo713

All depends on how long you been growing ya hair, ya hair type, and how long you think it will take to get a good amount of hair twisted before you decide to stop! For example I was already growin my hair for about 4-5 month before I decided to start sponging, the first couple time I started I ended up washing my hair and picking it out and starting to sponge over again until the last time I just kept sponge and didn’t stop for about a month, I would do it every day I wake up and every night before I go sleep, after the first month I put the sponge up and I would just palm roll it whenever I washed it and I washed my hair like once a week, cause I got bad dandruff so I gotta wash my hair often to keep from itching, but you make ya routine to fit you it’s hard to base it on others when it comes to washing , when I got to month 3-4 I just washed my hair regularly every week and palmed rolled every now and then but now I’ve stop palm rolling all together cause my hair starting to dread and Matt together so you’ll kinds kinda know when it times to stop palm rolling when you washing it cause ya hair will already been sectioned off and dreadin by ya 4-6 month! For awhile it’s going seem like ya hair not even growing or you won’t notice the difference but just keep going and trust the process! You’ll eventually see it and if you dedicate time you’ll end up fucking wit it if that’s the look you going for ! I’m in month 5 now I’m trying go a month without washing it’s been itching like crazy but ima get thru it just so they can Matt and dread however they dread you feel me, once I get to 6 months I’ll try to start washing every two weeks depending on how I feel
