Some places in the world have amazing support for rental karting that there’s almost no point going into owner karting unless you want to become a real race car driver

Of course, here in Brazil even the rental kart is expensive, a race costs on average the value of 10% of a minimum wage, however there are dozens of championships at various levels.

I started at PGP Motorsports Park in Tacoma, Washington (U.S.A) If you are 13 or below you can take a crash course for around $170 USD, they are a renal outdoor karting track and a "Arrive and Drive" session is around 60 each. If you live in the northwestern Washington area I highly recommend PGP.

They just opened K1 circut in Southern California. Winchester ca. Same company that does indoor. This is their first outdoor track. They have Electric go karts that can reach 80 mph. There are several licenses you must buy in order to work your way up to their pro license. I think its fair, they charge you $105 us dollars for 3 races that are on average 8 min each. You must do 30 races to be able to purchase a pro license to unlock the full potenial of the karts. The also offer practice days if you have your own kart. To get all the licenses and to purchase 30 races you are close to 2k. I think its worth it for seat time and great fun. I dont have to charge or change tires. just hop in and go
@goobergoofygaming4 ай бұрын
Just start by doing practice sessions, as many as you can, when you have enough experience, start joining sprint races. You could also join race academies, which provides you with lots of track time. Once you’ve done loads of races, practice sessions, and progress higher into your race academy, you can become an advanced driver and then you should be ready to join championships.

Or if you have a video talking about types of tracks for beginners that would be awesome.

I got into dirt karting with my mate's, which we run slicks on clay which there's ample traction with the right soft tyres, just completed my 1st full season, my 1st kart was a Arrow AX8 running a KT100 which I then upgraded to a Rotaxmax and now I've got pretty serious about it I've now upgraded my frame to an Arrow X1 for next season
@O_hAn4 ай бұрын
That's exactly how to do it! that's how I did it, arrive and dive once a month. ended up getting better, met people who are now my teammates for endurance races. my budget for the year is about 5000$. that's about 50 hours of practice or 20 hours of practice and 3, 24 hour endurance races.

I only just started karting half a year ago and went karting every few months, now a month or so ago I made my debut in a local championship the AOM (Austrian Outdoor Masters). Now I’ve tried to go karting more often, as you said, twice a month or so. The problem is, my parents don’t let me. I already have to pay the start fees myself, which is 600/700 minimum per weekend. I tried searching for a job, but it’s very limited because I’m only 16. You got any ideas how I can finance all this?
@OskartWild5 ай бұрын
It’s a hard situation to be honest. You must try to find sponsors through karting schools, local or national tracks, karting brands, or any other brand which wants to support a karting driver; etc. Honestly, I don’t see any other way of keeping with it if it isn’t without sponsors. I hope you can keep doing what you love, mate!

365$ for a month of rental karting, I wish I could! 😂 That’s the quantity I spend in half a year. In Spain prices are usually cheaper. There are tracks which offer 3 heats for 30-36€, others are more expensive and can get up to 50€. And the rental championships are a great way to start. Usually, the cost is around 550-700€ per season, which goes from September to June. In Madrid there are some tracks which have their own races/championships, and the level is incredible. Usually there’s an amateur category and a pro one, which is where you must aim after doing 20-30 races. I hope these helps to some of my compatriots!
@marcellans87135 ай бұрын
Budget wise, on Eefde Karting, the cost is 33 EURO for 2 heats (p.p.) So on average we pay 143 EURO per month per person, I think that's quite OK :)

Love the vid. I just started of thinking of a new hobby and thought i always wanted to race. So karting is my choice :D. I will take your advise and do the one day a week (i start with one session :D) rental kart rythm and see how it goes. At my nearest karting track a session is 15€ and on the other track its 17€. I really appreciate that you make it clear up front that racing is not a cheap sport/hobby to get into. Thx for the honesty. I will subscribe and get back to your channel :D But one question: You said you raced in f4 but then you ran out of budget to progress further. What was the budget in f4? If a driver gets to an f series does the driver has to pay for everything by himself or can you join a team as you described in the vid in karting?

Most tracks in my country charge between 12 and 20 euros per 10-15 minute sessions. I usually go three times a month for 2 or 3 sessions. Endurance races are more expensive here though. There's only one track sorta nearby which hosts them, and they charge 250 to 400 depending on the time of the race. There's one place in my country that offers a 24 hour endurance race, but that's 2.5k. Little outside my budget😅. But I'm not super serious about it and not planning to compete. I just like improving my laptimes and enjoy the experience. Most of the time I'm with a friend or multiple, so that also makes it more fun.

I get into it through formula student FSAE, i started to kart and gp to different tracks whenever i arrived a new city during travel. I began to develop a universal skillset/concept to be competitive right away when I arrive a new track and new car. I noticed i take much less time to be competitive at a new track than people who only do regular at 1 single track. Like i only need 2 sessions to get up to speed that can run for podiums at races while others will take more cuz they are too used to their home course

From what you have said and from what Ex-F1 drivers have also mentioned is that the drivers that get all the way to the F1 paddock are the ones who never grew tall, weighed more than 65kg's and never ran out of money thanks to the cash flow of their wealthy parents / business tax writes off's ecetera. Somewhere in the world there is someone walking around with more raw talent than a Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher or who ever your favorite F1 Champion is and never ever got to realise there ability. I doubt Jack Doohan would not be were he is if his father was not who he is.

What you describe with Rotax seems insane to me. Those guys are going to go out of business with electrification in the next few years. Electrification is such a no brainer here, even more so than with cars. Batteries are so small you can probably swap them out probably faster than you can fill up. No need to do complex engine maintenance etc

Mostly do 3 sessions and that costs around 50 euros per 3 sessions. And thats just normal session if i wanna drive with competetive people its around 80 euros for 3 sessions. And races are around 100 euros to enter. I would love to get into owner karting but in the netherlands its way too expensive to get into that and i also have to save up for my future so yea that
