When I started running and would face those thoughts about being judged for how slow I was or the fact that I didn't (and still don't) have the typical "runners' body" I used to remind myself that, if people did see me, they had no way of knowing if I was on mile 1 or mile 10, so they best keep their thoughts to themselves. Even though they probably weren't judging, that reminder helped me soooo much! So, that's one more trick to add to your arsenal! Thanks so much for your videos, Erin. I fell a bit behind, but I'm caught up now finally! (Though it was fun to be able to binge your videos again...I'm not great at waiting).

I love this! I recently started running for the first time and I put it off for so long because I worried about people seeing me. I just go in the morning when not many people are out. I ended up not feel judged. No one else knows your running level!

I went from a treadmill, 3x a week runner, to a marathon training team road runner, to a single track trail ultra runner. I’ve seen all the body types and so many runners without a “runner’s physique” absolutely kill it.

Overweight?! You are definitely not overweight! Haha. I started running at 280 lbs, I just ran, didn't change my diet or anything and lost 60lbs in less than 8 months. Then I got pregnant lol, I'm due in 3 weeks and ran 402 miles during my pregnancy (my goal was 500 miles but I had to stop two weeks ago). I can't wait to give birth and actually follow a proper nutrition and fuel plan and see how that can help my running. I appreciate your vlogs. I wish I vlogged my journey. I ran all over the state in a ton of organized races, running is the best thing to happen to me.

Vanessa C wow that’s amazing! You could always film when you start back up. I was just categorizing overweight but my BMI. It’s crazy I’d still have to lose weight to be considered normal weight, but hey if I have a healthy weight, I get a better rate on my life insurance policy lol good luck with the new baby!! 🤗

During quarantine I started running and walking once gym closed. 100 pounds down and training for my first marathon. I love your videos. Just remember your race your pace and one mile at a time :-) f

You rock so hard! At the end of April, I started running because, well, quarantine-15. I found your channel about 5 weeks into running a mile every day. It 10000% resonated with all of the thoughts/emotions I was encountering WHILE I was encountering them as a beginning runner. You're truly an inspiration. And although you're a complete stranger, you legit keep me accountable. When I see you post to any of your social media channels/pages, I'm reminded that hey, it's time for my daily run! :) Keep. It. Uppp!! Also, what an amazing example you're setting for your kiddos! They've got a strong, determined mommy!

Love this! Alicia’s advice to get fitted at a running store is spot on! I went a few months into my marathon training and found out my third pregnancy had completely collapsed my arches! If I had just bought the same shoes that had always worked before online I would have been in for a lot of pain! Getting fitted for the right shoes is a very good tip!

I dont have any kids I'm just fat. I legit lost 80 pounds after weighting in at 300 a few years ago but I gained it back. All of it. I am so disappointed in myself. What I'm doing is doing morning runs. I want to get to 220. I've tried to find vids like yours and legit finding this was when I was about to call it in for a night but I'm so happy this came up. I love this and it's so motivating because I really am a crappy runner. I know that I trust myself and can do this again & lose this weigh for the last n final time. Thank you so much for giving me motivation, Ladies!

You have a great vibe. We all look different, run different, and have different stories but just watching this video there are some things that anyone who runs for 5 minutes or 5 hours knows: starting a run and your legs are feeling it from the day before, spending time wondering who is judging you while you run, and that "whew" when you finally stop running and get to walk a bit. As someone who is constantly focusing on new shoes, time trials, and competing, I also would like ANYONE who sees this to know that if I see you running I am 100% thinking you are a freakin rockstar for better yourself out there. Awesome video haha!

Michelle Taylor I am not an expert but I trained for and completed a marathon using Olympian Jeff Galloway’s run/walk/run method. He has you alternate intervals of walking with your running. The theory is to reduce impact and increase stamina. I’m sure there are other ways to build up endurance but this worked for me!

I agree with what everyone else has said above! I'm no expert, but I can lend a few words from my own experience! My first piece of advice is goooo slooowwww. Every time i tried to start running in the past, I got so discouraged, because I would get so out of breath so fast that I couldn't keep going. I would either go out and just run at what felt like a run pace, or I had these ambiguous numbers in my head like "6mph" or "Les than a 10 min mile" that were way too fast for me. No one ever told me until this past fall that you are supposed to run SLOW! Like seriously. Sloooooow. When I started again in the fall I was running 14min miles or slower!! I could probably speed walk that fast, but guess what? The stimulation of RUNNING that pace is so different! It didn't take me long to start speeding up a little, running longer distances, etc. Don't look at all the fit people around you who seem like they are speeding by you - run at a pace your body likes, and then take it a touch slower at first! You should be able to hold full conversations pretty easily! And starting with the run/walk method is just as good as any other! My second piece of advice is this: You can run as far as you can imagine. You CAN run a mile, or 5 miles, or 10 miles. So much of it is in your head, and it's really hard to break through that barrier and start telling yourself you can when all you can think about is how fast your heart is, and how hard it can be to breathe, and that your legs hurt. But you CAN! Just slow down a little and keep battling that internal monologue. When I get really stuck in my head about how hard running is, I try to look up and appreciate the trees, and the sound of the birds, and the smell of the air - or sometimes I listen to a very engaging audiobook! The last thing is try some cross training as well. Getting your cardiovascular system a little more fit can help a lot. Personally I like to bike. I use a bike trainer and Zwift to stationary bike. It's easy to get that heart rate up, and to build stamina by increasing your time working. It's helped my endurance during runs immensely! I didn't mean to write a novel, but I hope this helps!!!

Jennifer Gartland it’s so easy to get in a rut, especially now when things are so stressful and uncertain. What I’ve noticed with myself is that taking the steps to get myself out of it (even just putting my shoes on) feels so daunting, but once I get in the groove of things I feel on top of the world. It helps me to keep the end goal in sight.

Often times my anxiety holds me back from running. We don't have any quiet roads where I live, it's either neighborhoods or busy main roads with no space for pedestrians. We do have some trails, but they're always packed with people, especially now because everyone has been itching to go outside.

I’m a runner, but not a huge fan of running. When I’m out on a run, thinking about how I wish it was over, and I see literally ANYONE else outside being active, it perks me up. I think, “look at them. They’re out here doing something good for themselves so try to enjoy your own fitness journey.”

Running seems to be the only thing that helps me with weight loss but not sure how to start back especially at this age . I have never been fast don’t desire to be just want to get back on the pavement consistently. Every time I try I get discouraged because I can’t even go 1 mile without walking. 😕

Lots of free content, and she's always willing to answer questions! I know she'd have plenty of tips for you. Can you keep me posted on how you're doing?
