Thanks for the instruction explaining how import connection is. Personally I need to feel my left arm and right arm attached to my torso in the backswing to get a good swing arc to the top to activate my lower body to get a good release in the downswing. The right arm will stay attached until the club reaches parallel and my elbow separates and folds to the set the club at the top. I struggled with connection for a long time until I decided to try turning with my chest and arms as a unit in the backswing. with the arms as straight and long as possible. I naturally get a slight bend in the backswing in the lead arm which mirrors a slight bend at the elbow when my arms hang in a relaxed position. So long as I am relaxed I get good speed and distance.

Many thanks once again for this great tip. You fixed my right arm problem a couple of months ago, but now you have totally cured my inconsistent iron hitting. I did exactly what you said and am now hitting my irons great. My driving is also much better. So brilliant advice yet again. Love all your videos. The best on KZbin!

Great! The drill with the glove, I haven't done that in a while. But the suggestion to tuck in the shirt (under the arm) while on course is awesome. Thank you!

I am asking this in some videos, but is the disconnection also may the cause for shanking the ball - this is my issue since years and I believe I am also disconnecting right in the take away as I want to bringt my sent straight to the right side of me

That shirt tuck is cute! Will use that. Played poorly today in comp. Arms disconnected. But when I stay connected it feels “restrictive”. Is this a leap of faith that I need?

@@jchowngolf This statement sums up the most crucial part of the golf swing mechanics. Many years ago in his prime I noticed Tiger Woods tucked his tee shirt left sleeve under left arm pit before doing his back swing. This tip is so valuable, like gold for all keen golfers out there. Thanks a lot.

Beginner here.l was doing this and it was working for me, then i followed another youtube coach who said connected limits arms, do not connect, so i tried it and i could not hit the ball anymore.

Brilliant! How important is it that the glove stays under the arm on the follow thru? I am not sure that I have the flexibility to pull that off. I will definitely give it a go. Thank you!

Another excellent vid... This is also why players need to stand closer to the ball. Reaching at set up will prompt that body-arm gap. Hope you don't mind this, but your super clear instruction would be even better if it was a tad shorter. There's a bit of needless repetition that could be trimmed...with all due respect of course.
@jchowngolf

Absolutely bud! Standing too far away can also cause disconnection. Definitely, I noticed the repetition of a certain few areas whilst editing and I actually did try to cut the repetitive parts out (chest rotation with the arms connected I say about 4 times 😅) but the flow of the video was far too jumpy after haha. I’ll improve it for future videos! 👍🏼

Great video! I’ve missed out on simplifying my swing because I misunderstood this concept. Taking the hands inside wasn’t necessarily taking the club inside when done correctly. I purposely avoided doing this for years and have suffered with distance and inconsistency . I’m focusing on turning my shoulders maintaining my arm and hand position relative to body throughout the swing. Not sure if this is correct but my results are definitely better?

Great brother should we keep the glove under the arm after impact ? 🤔
@jchowngolf
@jchowngolf 3 жыл бұрын
You can certainly keep it there post impact to the finish, but after shaft parallel in the follow through, you can drop it 👍🏼

Do you have any videos for the clubface at address (using a rotational swing)? Should an iron clubface be slightly open at address? Square? Slightly closed?
@jchowngolf
@jchowngolf 3 жыл бұрын
The club face should still be square at address 👍🏼

@@jchowngolf - So the older generation (Nicklaus) wanted the clubface slightly open at address because they used the older "rolling the wrists" through vs the modern body rotation "keep it square" swing?
