The interesting thing is we are all aware of this, but somehow we keep making the most basic mistakes and while i'm in a big losing trade or after a big lose, i'm like : why did i made such foolish and childish mistake ? ''i could of just take a small lost and prepare for the next trade '' .

I think I have good discipline for the most part. In fact, I can count lots of times where I'm convinced the trade will be a loser long before it actually turns into one, and I patiently and painfully wait until price goes all the way to my stop loss because that was my rules (but this could be confirmation bias on my part?). It just that none of my edges work long term... And when I move from back testing to live trading there seems to be about a 10% drop in win rate. There's some sort of bias in the back testing that causes the edges to always look better than they really are.

I personally go a slightly different route rather than punishment. If I am starting to develop a bad habit (any habit not just trading), I take time away to analyzing the reasons for said bad habit. Journaling, self talk, the usual psychological discovery. Sure, you can punish a child for doing something wrong, but that behavior has a greater tendency to repeat itself again and again, or you can find out why the child is doing what he or she is doing, and address the reasons. As far as addictions go, depending on the severity of "punishment" addictive tendencies have a greater chance of developing. Well ,that is just me of course, not saying you should do one or the other, to each their own.

@@smilesformiles7277 many people won’t do it. They don’t have the balls.You need serious discipline to put yourself through ICT lol man talks a lot but his stuff is the truth. @@smilesformiles7277 Many of ICT's concepts are overrated. Fair value gaps and orderblocks fail all the time. Equal highs and lows aren't always purged when you think they will be, etc... The best advice he has is to trade at certain times of day. Everything else he teaches fails just as much as other systems. I've spent a lot of money trying his concepts. Oh, fair value gap, I'll take an order there after it sweeps price and enters the gap at 930am only to have to blitzkrieg straight through stopping me at full stop in the blink of an eye lol. That set of equal highs in the daily TF flow that is 30 pips away in the NY killzone? Nope, it will run 12am NY when everyone is sleeping lol.
@cappster2 жыл бұрын
@@YusufEbr He knows how to hype himself up. I've studied a lot of his material and especially now when people are trying to long/short at OB's and gaps, they are going to fail at a higher rate. Correlation, flow, and time of day is what I find works the best for me.

Following rules doesn't work in the long term. You are human, and will always fail to follow your rules eventually. You will make mistakes. These mistakes will cause mental pain and get you out of the flow of the market. This will cause you to trade badly. Only way to trade well is without rules, or very loose ones that are hard to violate.
