For taking notes on paper, I'm a perfectionist and my notes NEED to look perfect but I noticed that I can't plan my notes when the lectures are going at normal paces. What I've started doing is taking sloppy quick, gross looking notes DURING the lectures/pre-recorded sessions and once they're over and done with I take them and transfer them to a notebook where I write down the necessary things, decide what material was written under impulse and what material helps me better understand the lesson. This works really well and I am able to work smarter and just a little bit harder to make sure I'm really getting that material down. Editing my comment to clarify: When I say my notes need to be PERFECT I should have worded it differently because my definition of perfect is different from your definition. I don't have hours to spend writing my notes again and again in cute "aesthetic" notebooks and all that. I basically just wrote them over so it's at least legible (Because my in class notes are barely able to be read by even me) and I just organize them by material/content😌✨

In my classes in person, I was known as the "live artist" type of note-taker. All the lecturers not only had no problem with it, quite a few mentioned the studies of doing art as a memorisation technique and encouraged me to keep going. I used to draw the lecturer, other students, the desks - it became quite a great collection of the class experience that week. I would have a drawing of the lecturer's outfit that day, a quote or two that were memorable, a student paying attention, another fidgeting. To this day, I can go back to those drawings and remember exactly what the class topic was about, what was discussed, the questions and answers students had, everything. I really miss it being online. My last drawing was of the inside of a lecturers nose.

So every time u open your device, u would see them, especially when and IF you're like me and u forget to open your bujo/planner, this is actually really helpful, when you are doing online schooling! I actually changed the speed of the video to 1.5 because I was squeezing this in-between my classes and when you imitated how older professors talk I had to check if I changed the speed...

I put my phone in 'do not disturb' mode for an hour or two. Also, a tip you might not have thought of is taking breaks. Give your mind a few minutes (15-20) to just recalibrate. Thanks for the video!

I'm definitely going to try all your tips while taking my online course. That crochet thing was just amazing....Your best points were watching recordings at a different speed and go full screen to avoid distractions...Thanks a lot!

I love these tips.I'm a 35 yr old mom who never went to college, but having my son home distance learning gave me the learning bug so I've been taking random classes on courses to get in the groove before I really go back, want to be an emt so I've been taking their few medical courses as practice, but pre recorded lectures are very hard go get in to! I can't wait for "real" classes! I also loved the tip about watching videos in a faster speed. My son is in middle school and most of his classes are mandatory zoom cameras on, but there are some assignments he has to watch videos for. He would space out, get distracted bc they spoke too slow even quick 5 min videos didn't hold his attention. Once he increased the speed he actually listened and got his work done faster. The only videos he can't speed up are the zoom workouts lol he tried to do a 15 min workout on 2x and cheat the system haha. I really love your videos and just wanted to let u know I appreciate the effort u put in, not just studying videos but your vlogs also are so relaxing to watch.

I’m in the northeast, and I’d likely do permanent damage to my fingers in less than 10 minutes if I did work outside now
@lex68193 жыл бұрын
I did my masters degree online in 2013. I find that having a daily routine, sitting down to look at my class assignments and discussions at the same time every day makes it easier to establish the habit. This was before Zoom. All my classes were asynchronous and didn't use many video lectures. So it was really important to motivate myself to check in with my studies every day.

6:25 i am in fact listening and understanding at 2x speed. Also, there's a great app on Mac called "Be Focused" where you can set timers with different intervals. When studying, I do 25 minutes of focused studying: no phones, no youtube tabs, no guitar playing or fiddling around. Once the 25 minutes is up, I get a 5 minute break. This helps to break up long periods of time into much smaller, manageable chunks with rest. So, instead of a seemingly insurmountable three hour period of studying, I'll have 6 succinct intervals in which I can focus on specific tasks.
