One thing to mention, as an in ground pool owener, is making sure your CYA level is good. Without that, the sun will evaporate your chlorine at a rapid rate and algae will definitely come back. Add liquid Conditioner until your CYA is between 30 to 50 and add as much chlorine as needed for your levels. Best thing available is the online pool calculator that's free!

“No Phos” or “Perfect Weekly” works terrific in getting rid of algae because these two products lower phosphate levels. Algae feeds off of phosphate. Using either one of these products will make pool care much easier and you will have beautiful results. These two products are like liquid gold--very valuable. I can’t say enough about them.

Hello, we have a 15000 gallon pool with a level of 731 phosphate. Would you suggest adding remover?

Can I recommend Leslie Pool’s “No Phos” or “Perfect Weekly”? They both lower phosphate levels and take away algae. It’s poured down the skimmer once a week. The result is less work, no algae in pool, a beautiful blue pool. No need to use algaecide when you use “No Phos” or “ Perfect Weekly”. You will find pool maintenance a lot easier if you use either of these two products. It’ a miracle. Hope this helps.

I AM IN NEED OF SOME SERIOUS HELP!!! My dog dug out one of our poles (all poles are sat upon 12x12 inch blocks to keep pool level) We bought a new pool this year. Same size just everything new. Our old pool did not have a cover so it has collected 3 years of leaves and algae. I want to get the water back blue and sanitized before getting into it to remove the leaves and then once I have removed all of the leaves were going to mgmt take the old pool down and put our new one up. ALSO there's only 5 inches of water left in the pool right now and it is a 24’ x 52” summer escapes elite frame pool ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!

Hi. I've got 97-98% of the algae out of my pool, but I've got a few floating green patches left on the pool floor. These are just minute small algae that sit together but as soon as I try to vacuum or collect them up, they just disperse into a cloud and m8x back into the water. After a while, these little green clouds re-appear and I can't get rid of them... what can I do to help?

Algae feeds off of phosphate, so if you lower the phosphate level, no algae can grow. To have a perfectly clean, blue, beautiful pool add “No Phos” or “Perfect Weekly” to your skimmer once a week. Don’t backwash for 24 hours after using it. We have a 10,500 gallon pool and we use 5 ounces of “No Phos” a week. The results are miraculous and amazing. Pool maintenance is much easier and there is no need to use algaecide. Your pool will look beautiful and you will be super grateful because it makes for less work out in the hot sun cleaning. You will avoid using large amounts of shock too.

Try “No Phos” or “Perfect Weekly”. They both do the same thing. They get rid of algae by eliminating phosphates. You pour it down the skimmer once a week and don’t backwash for 24 hours. The results are fabulous. We have a 10,500 gallon pool and we use 5 ounces of “No Phos” once a week. Our pool no longer has algae.

Should the filter run 24/7? I live in Florida and it’s winter so we don’t swim, my husband doesn’t keep filler on daily? Any advice on this?
@drdrew3
@drdrew3 Жыл бұрын
You wouldn’t want to run a single speed pump 24 hours a day because it will burn out the pump and lead to a huge electric bill. In Florida we run SS pumps 1 hour for every 10 degrees of air temp (eg. 8 hours for a peak daily air temp of 80F). A variable speed pump, however, can circulate all day using the same energy as just a 75 watt light bulb

Can’t discuss algae control without an understanding of CYA, phosphates and borates. This video only covers about half of what you need to understand. Plenty of videos elsewhere on KZbin that cover those topics. Without learning about those topics algae still has the advantage

I have waterfalls in my pool and it is very difficult to remove the algae because of the porosity of the concrete. I am thinking to apply a concrete sealant to the parts of the waterfall that are underwater. Is this a good idea or there is something easier?
@drdrew3

The concrete surface shouldn’t be porous. Needs to be resurfaced to eliminate pits

I have an auto chlorinator but I can't get it dialed in for the life of me... one day it will have too much chlorine on the lowest setting. The next day it will have no chlorine reading while the chlorinator is on the highest setting...

I add 16 ounces or less of liquid chlorine shock each night. I don’t use tablets anymore. I keep the chlorine at 3-4. I have very good results doing this, plus adding Leslie Pool Store’s “No Pho’s” down the skimmer (2 capfuls) once a week. I use one and a half capfuls of “Perfect Weekly on a different day. The results are miraculous. The pool is clear blue with no algae. Less work cleaning. Less money spent on chemicals.

@@bobannan well it's taken me some time but I've come to the realization that doing what you just replied is my best bet for the chlorine. Weakly I add a mineral fighter and only adjust my PH when needed. But yeah, the liquid is cheaper and no problems with dissolving obviously.

What about when all these steps are satisfied and chlorine is at a constant 6-7ppm, and algae reappears in less than 8 hours? It's not realistic to have to vacuum and dump so much water twice a day.

Algae feeds of of phosphate, so if you lower the phosphate level, you will get rid of algae and you won’t have to lose all the water backwashing. Try “No Pho’s” or “Perfect Weekly”. They both do the same thing--get rid of phosphate. If you use it weekly, you will have no algae the whole season. The results are miraculous and amazing. No need to keep vacuuming up algae. No need for algaecide. Pour the “No Phos” or “Perfect Weekly” into your skimmer once a week. Don’t backwash for 24 hours. No need to use large amounts of shock.
