Thank you for this! I try and embrace stoicism in my life as much as possible, and it always has a beneficial effect.

If you struggle witb rejection, remember this perspective shift: "rejection is gods protection" (not mine), as it helps you getting detached from the situation. Keep your feet grounded in reality though

Let's make this clear right away... There's a difference between valuing a strangers opinion, and valuing family, friends, gf's bf's collegues and etc. Value / care aboout the opinion of those who ACTUALLY love you and deeply care about you. Those who fill you with positive energy, uplifts you, supports you and includes you are the ones who matter. We humans will always care about the opinions of other, but don't let it control you or your life. Anyone who says they don't care about the opinion of other people, they're not telling the truth. Other people include family, friends and etc... I care what my son thinks, family, friends and those who i love and care about, that i KNOW loves me and cares about me. I still struggle with things often, but i try my best to control what is within my control. I got ADHD which means i tend to ruminate and often have dark, ugly and uncomfortable thoughts. What i then focus on is keeping my brain occupied until i have the capacity and energy to deal with it (if it is possible of course). The lesson i have and still are being taught is really: live to experience life, because it will ultimately teach you the lessons. h How you respond, is up to you.

For those of you that know much more about the stoic’s than I do, what book would you recommend on this specific subject of avoiding external validation?
