In addition to feeling more confident, it ensures that you get an important task done every day. You don't have to choose to do it later in the afternoon because you got it done early. It can be helpful to put important decisions early in the day before decision fatigue sets in.

@GoalGuys

Great questions. I would say if you have time in the morning before class or work, try do something active like skipping or walking or push ups. If you can get a routine of physical activity in before work or class, that's a great start. It's really all about finding those 3-5 good habits that you can keep doing each day, and if you can, you're off to a great start! Good luck!

Thanks for the video! We make so many decisions every day. As a researcher, I have focused on food choices because we make so many of them every day. It is great if we can create an environment that doesn't require that you make as many choices. It can also be helpful to develop habits. It doesn't require choice once those habits are formed. It can be helpful to start small. Your morning routine is great, but it may be too much for someone just starting out. If you can only do 3 push-ups, that is good too!

Dude your videos help me out so much. They just get me in the right frame of mind to start making consistently better choices. My GF is having a real tough time with this kind of stuff right now, so I'm trying to help her get a morning routine that works for her.
@steelephd
@steelephd 4 жыл бұрын
Have your girlfriend start small! We are in hard times right now, so it is understandable that she is having a tough time. Creating small habits can reduce the number of decisions even more. It is easier to decide to do 10 squats than it is to decide to workout for an hour. The small habits require less thought and can build momentum.

Hey, what is your choice that you’re having trouble with is the very first one of the day? What have u got for that? Every day I need to go to work earlier and every day I make the decision to sit back down on my bed and read or watch a video because I say I actually don’t HAVE to be there til…whatever time. It’s ruining my life. I have severe adhd with heavy emphasis on impulsivity n compulsivity. And literally hate myself everyday because I can’t MAKE MYSELF make the right decision because it’s not what I WANT to do but rather what I NEED to do. Please help me

I have heard a theory that decision fatigue may be the reason we have seen such a low rate of innovation on recent times outside of sectors like tech. It's a pretty compelling idea when you think about it and one of the few possible good things about quarantine. It's restricting people's choices which forces creativity as a society. It seems like a research rabbit hole you might enjoy going down. I know it's a lot that has helped me mentally get through this.
