This is one of the reasons why the road to success is very lonely. The minute I raised my standards, people started leaving. I don't miss them. My circle has always been small because my friends are real, true, and authentic, just like I am. I love you, Ed. I consider you my friend even though we haven't met 😊

Leave if they don't respect your boundaries, reciprocate, nor show up for you they way you show up for them.

I put up with things early in my marriage , a lot of leaving to my mothers in past , it took these measures to get where I am to 15 years … I have to ask myself am I non confrontational? My husband likes to push boundaries , he lives for the reaction , where I am calm . I’m not his first marriage , he’s not mine , we brought in baggage . I was alone with a child for 14 years after first marriage . I had a boyfriend before don’t get me wrong but he strung me along and used our sons as friends to keep me around . Shame on me ! It all comes to boundaries and standards ! What we expect from ourselves we should expect from others . I like what you said Ed observe like a silent movie ! Watch what they do . Thank you I needed to hear this !

One thing I would say in addition to this is I have seen loving someone unconditionally even when they deserve for you to leave them, can do miraculous things in a marriage. There are some relationships wit the exiting but the power of unconditional love can do wonders as long as the boundaries aren’t too severe to endure

Sometimes when a person has been emotionally abused, they are more sensitive to jokes and ribbing as that is an actual emotional abuse tactic.

I thought that difficult people had been hurt in the past and so I tried to have compassion, I also thought there is the devine in everybody and that maybe in another lifetime it was the other way round so I need to stay in love. in some cases that helped but in other cases it didn't and I thought I need to love them even more. now I think I am worthy to protect myself... so that I can stay happy and healthy.. thank you so much, Ed! it really shows how much you care for people. your videos are special! Merry Christmas 💖💫 All the best, Isabella

Wow what beautiful profound words…… 👏👏👏👏👏👏 I really do feel this is all that I needed today. I can trust myself first and do my best - and I won’t beg and ask for others to come to my level. ❤ From now on I will be with people that share my same values!!!!!!!!

The most powerful way is by writing, through my years of addiction and being a not so great human/husband my wife and I would write notes to each other because I didn’t understand how to communicate with words and Ed it makes such a difference. Even to this day if there is something I’m uneasy talking about (maybe once every 18 months if that) I will still write about it and she does the same. I think husbands and wives can learn so much through writing to each other. I speak with men today that are lost in addiction and I share that with all of the married guys, start writing to each other. Thank you for sharing.

On the issue of teasing people: we must never think we're entitled to making anyone the butt of our jokes, then gaslight them for not liking it by calling them 'sensitive' or 'quick to take offense'. If we're believers, we know that God never makes anyone the butt of jokes. God only speaks things that breathe life into creation: life and death are in the power of the tongue and we reap rewards for that life or death. We are created in God's image to be image-bearers, and He calls us to speak words that uplift others, words that are gracious: Colossians 4:6 Let your words ALWAYS be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should answer each person. There is no exception as to WHEN, WHERE or WITH WHOM our words must be gracious, because God is our main audience and judge and we don't own anyone or anything. I believe making even yourself or anyone else the butt of jokes is not uplifting. We can make healthy jokes that uplift others and that are a blessing. God only ever speaks words that bring life. May we only be entitled to our obedience to God.

This hit the nail on the head sooo many times! So true! We are letting people treat us like crap! -and who’s pointing 10 fingers Back at themselves? - I’m guilty. I’m better than that.

You can only change the person in the mirror… and what we give audience to. Some folks - the bigger the audience reaction, the bigger the show, so I get to make fresh choices about what shows I take in, I’m willing to sit for and which ones I simply take my leave of the room from.

Thank you so much for this, I really needed this today. When you are an empathetic person it can be so hard to do this because you end up feeling guilty, but no one wins. You have to learn to be ok with someone else being unhappy with you because you have called them up on something... Easier said than done, but after watching this I feel a little less guilty ❤

It starts with you. People reflect back to you to the degree you love and respect yourself. If you do and they aren’t showing up aligned to you I believe it’s God’s way of saying someone more aligned is out there. I do believe anyone has the power to change but you have to ask yourself what is your accountability in the situation (ie you need to work on your self respect, etc) and if you are then also is this relationship worth holding on to when there are 8 billion+ other people to connect with in this world? Inner conversations with yourself will determine where you are at with YOU and you can decide who gets to stay or leave your life.💫 If you’re reading this I pray you receive the highest form of love. You deserve and are worthy of the best.🙏🏻♥️

My weekness has been confrontation, I dont like it as I dont know how to handle it. I treat ohter like I like to be treated myself and most people dont even get it. Thus, I just turn my back and I am gone. Mind you, that still does not solve the problem.

The majority of society, men and women are living in an unconscious state due to technology, instant gratification, high levels of stress etc… So your kindness, to someone living in this primal unconscious state, reads to them more like character weakness. Although it’s not true, society has programmed people to being in a fighter state of mind to get their needs met. And so your kindness may remind them of the personal freedom that they feel they may lack.. or they treat you badly in order to get you to fit in with their programming. When you set brick walls for the right people, you’re no longer allowing them to feed off of you.
