So far, out of the zillions of videos I’ve been through trying to fix my persistent plantars fasciitis, there was another woman and you are basically saying the same thing… Strengthen the arch. I’m shocked at how many out there have the wrong information. So many tell you to stretch your planner‘s fascia out which seems to only make it worse if you ask me. I’ve had really persistent planters for over three years now. It’s getting pretty bad. I started to roll out my calf with pressure points which helps for a little bit until I got walking again. I went back to the drawing board and found the other woman saying the same thing as you. I was trying to find her video again when I came across yours. Thank you… I’m just so shocked at how many professionals out there are telling you to stretch your foot out. I have tried just about everything… Now I am doing two points with a Thera band to strengthen my arch. I have been going at it all day and night since yesterday. I know it will take a long time before it’s fully strengthened, but I already feel a little bit of a difference after doing a few hundred reps over a couple of days. I know I probably should take it slow haha… I just really want to get back to walking. I’ve gained so much weight sitting around with this problem

The plantar fascia becomes damaged when the tension on the fascia exceeds the ability of the facia to handle that load. So to decrease potential for damage you have several options: 1. Strengthen the fascia so it can handle more load 2. Use orthotics and appropriate shoes to decrease load on the fascia 3. Strengthen the muscles that run parallel to the fascia so that they take on more of the load. One option is not better than the others, in fact the combination of all of them likely works the best. @@Footankle thank you, it makes a lot more sense than stretching out the fascia even more and causing more micro tears. Stretching it out only made it worse for me… icing it was maybe a temporary relief. I’d say, the weight I gained, after having my child, triggered it as it put a lot more stress on my arches. I have custom orthotics and finally bought some proper running shoes with the rounded toe instead of my flat shoes. Now I’m working on the arch strength as it makes the most sense out of anything I’ve come across. Even my own doctor simply gave me exercises to stretch out the facia.
