@TigerZ8 Жыл бұрын
@@BellsandJess For my dog. This did not work. However, I brought is biting down about 90% doing a different method. Whenever he got excited he wants to use his mouth and still does. So I bought him the Kong brand chew toys and I make him get his toy before I head outside so he doesn't bite me. Also when he gets too wild and tries to bite me again, I grab his collar and hold it until he is calm. He thrashes around so I put my hand between the collar and his neck so it doesn't choke him. Once he is calm for awhile then I let him go. FYI, he still bites. But not NEARLY as much as he used to.

@@dihanscholtz2607 my 13 week old pitbull puppy was driving us CRAZY with her hyperactive biting, it got so bad to the point I considered having her adopted out, she would even bite hard just cause she didn’t get her way about something. What’s helping us is to make a yelp anytime she bites and then stick a toy in her mouth. If it persists we wait a minute til she gets calmed down(or else she’ll start biting again if we try picking her up) and then put her in the crate for like 5-10 minutes. She’s gotten better but she still tries it just not as much. The trick is to keep them from getting too excited. Also obedience training helps.

Thanks, Jen... I'll try the collar grab while she's being good to see what happens. Right now, she just keeps flailing around and biting more. Even grabbing the leash with the martingale collar doesn't work. I'm told that I should look into a pinch collar.
@TheRightPaw7 жыл бұрын
Be patient with her, how old is she? I like to start collar grabs when I'm petting the dog if they are calm. While scratching their neck I'll slip my fingers under their collar and continue scratching. If she does have a melt down, the best thing you can do is keep your hand behavior her head so she can't bite, sometimes I'll grab part of the scruff behind the head. Then don't let her lay down, and just wait her out. Once she stops crying/biting and is calm you can let her go. She'll eventually learn to be calm if she wants to be let go, but you have to be calm yourself. Don't talk to her if she's having a tantrum.
@ChrisTashjian7 жыл бұрын
Supposedly 15 months old, but the vet, and another trainer both found that hard to believe... she may be more like 8-10 months old.
@TheRightPaw7 жыл бұрын
Oh ok, because she's a little older then you may want to consider hiring a trainer to help you out. The techniques in this video are ideal for dogs under 4 months of age. The bigger the dog the harder it is to physically keep them still. You may also need to desensitize her to the collar grabs if she's got a strong reaction when grabbed, you can use treats and feed her every time you grab her collar before trying this again. If she's seriously trying to bite, then have her wear a baskerville muzzle while you practice this until she realizes you aren't trying to hurt her and that there's nothing scary about collar grabs.
