We had dog 30 years ago, when I was about 15 years old. We are pretty sure he was half Akita. Anyway, I would put welding gloves on so he could really go at it with me. We both loved it, I would pull the gloves off and he would stop like I flipped a switch. Best dog...

I have a three month old akita puppy. We just moved from Tennessee to California. When we arrived in Cali she became axtremely aggressive when playing with other dogs at the local park. This makes the other owners very uneasy so much so they change directions on walks outside of the park. Size of dog doesn't matter. I continue to try to socialize her but it seems risky. Should I stop socializing her with other dogs??? P.S. She loves all people.

We are very lucky with our boy Max he was 7 when we got him from the Dogs Trust and is 11 now. He's always liked a bit of a play fight but he's so gentle and as soon as you say oww if he clonks your knuckles with his teeth or something he stops. He's very gentle and when licking your face will sometimes give my chin a gentle nibble.

We have two Akita puppies not that are now 15 weeks old, 3 days spread. Female 40 lbs Male 37lbs, they have been together for 7 weeks now and they have play fought between themselves the entire time. Yesterday they had a serious fight, both bloody mess and only stopped because they were pulled apart. I assume this is a normal dominance sorting thing? They can both be annoying to each other and take over the others food dish, push in for attention, or just walk in and nip at each other. Does one need to really hurt the other before the dominance issue is sorted?

These are great lessons in communication, thank you. If the dog hasn't shown understanding, then we didn't communicate at all. My friends' cats help me communicate with a freaked out poodle - poor dog didn't think she was safe to eat at home, even though I took the larger dog out back for food. The cats saw that I was trying to get her to eat and the cats engaged the poodle in a little bit of play and movement, always arriving back at the food bowl. God bless those cats man, the poodle was way too freaked out to ever eat and I was really worried she was never gonna eat while I was house/pet sitting. She took some bites and then horked down her breakfast, realizing she hasn't eaten in a long time. The big dog was none the wiser, this bitch.

Been watching your videos dunno if you can help. However I have a 15 month old akita inu been socialized since a pup was amazing with every dog then had a double season for her first. Now is aggresive with females not so bad with males just try and dominantes them. 😬

This is the most useless video ever, not a single piece of useful info on how to stop rough play.
