Quadrant streaking is really unnecessary for mycology. That method is for bacteria cultures where you're trying to disperse and isolate single colonies.

Streaking is used to thin cell concentrations, this applies to mushroom spores and the contaminant organisms often present in spore prints and spore syringes. Streaking allows the cultivator to separate target species from contaminant species.
