This video is how to string Wilson T2000 from start to finish. I am using the official instructions for the stringing pattern by Wilson.
I am a Master Racquet Technician Certified through the United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA). I love stringing and own a lot of tennis products and want to share that passion.

@@racquetology Is it possible to string the T2000 with a stringing machine with glide bars? I have an older Gamma 4000 machine.

Alright I finished testing it out and yes it can work, but it is a bit tedious. first off before mounting your frame make sure to pre lace at least up to 6 of the mains for the racquet due to the fact that the mounts for the machine obstruct you from getting in there during the stringing process. Next thing to make sure about is to apply a firm amount of pressure to the mounts with this frame, due to the metal wraps around the frame that make it so it does not fit snugly against the plastic pieces for the throat or head mount which makes it have a slightly higher chance of slipping out of the 12 and 6 o'clock mounts (also because it isn't a six point you can have the racquet completely centered which makes looking at the racquet a lot easier). Now the last special thing you need to do is during the pulls that go around from the mains to the crosses; wait for the machine to lock out and then unclamp the previous string and remove the glide bar from that side and put it back on track to your newly tensioned string. Hopefully I typed this well enough to understand, I never felt very good at writing steps and procedures in easy to interpret ways.

@@racquetology Thank you very much for the help. Sounds doable but a little complicated. I was thinking of upgrading the machine to swivel clamps or maybe buy a new machine that could possibly do it all. Do you have any suggestions on machines that are somewhat affordable? You seem to have knowledge of different styles of machines. By the way, I do love my Gamma 4000, it does a great job and is in very good shape. Thanks for the time you put into these questions.

I coach a high school team and one of the boys started using his dads 2000 just to be different. Haven't strung one of these since 1975. Watched just in case I need to do one.

The stringing patterns you've got from wilson are wrong! I used to string them myself! you should start at the 11 o'clock position and first string the sides, then the mains...

What I hated about, but lamented that racquet was the need to have at least 5 of them at the time.. I played with that racquet for more than 5 years between '75-80' when I was a junior and National Team Player... and it certainly was the best one I've ever played (still to this day) with! My best results came with that stick made of steel. I've played in national and international tournaments with that stick. But I had to learn how to string the damn thing at home; cause I busted the strings every week. (mind you in the seventies) In 6 years, I broke maybe 16 of them (metal fatigue), since I strung them at 60 pounds... but they were both powerful and accurate... They had both a lot of feel and the effect of a god..amn trampoline!

When I first started stringing T2000 frames our shop had a set of typewritten instructions the Wilson sales rep gave us which had been duplicated with an old mimeograph machine. The knots took some practice.

What version restringing machine is that everyone would require to have one in order to restring it but unfortunately, I was told that they do not have the restringing devices for the 2000 more just for modern versions unless you happen to know where to purchase one

Buddy I followed exactly your pattern first cross at the bottom went under and finished over and when you come to the first cross at top i started under and finished over....but when i came to the very last cross of the racket the two patterns of the last cross and the one below it (the third one at the bottom before finishing mains) are the same and not the opposite...

Are those Wilson baiardo l clamps?
@racquetology
@racquetology 3 жыл бұрын
Good Eye! However these are not exactly the same clamps that can be found on the Wilson Bairado Lite, the clamps are exactly the same but from the gamma line which allows it to fit into the base clamps because of the shaft construction compared to the Baiardo's tube construction. They both come from the same factory in Taiwan which is why you can see similar design structure and sometimes the same mold for clamps and clamp bases. Also the Gamma tennis line has the same clamps as the regular Wilson Baiardo as well; Ill leave the link so you can check them all out. Wilson Line click on the clamp maintenance for best view (www.wilson.com/en-us/explore/tennis/baiardo) Gamma Line (www.gammasports.com/GAMMA-9900-ELS-w-2Point-SCAR / www.gammasports.com/GAMMA-XLT). Stringin a T-2000 wasn't that difficult.. you just had to anchor the first string at the yoke, and then circle the damn thing..

Are you asking why I would want to string a Wilson T2000? I suppose people could have several reasons like wanting to hit with an old frame perhaps an older player taking some racquets out of the garage. However my personal reason is to simply know as much string knowledge as possible I also collect lots of wooden racquets to test out different techniques, is it “practical” no but my obsession with stringing never has been. Everything I do is just for the passion of it.

@@racquetology OK. My thinking was that racquet is so dated and there are so many great ones today, why waste time and strings. Also, hopefully no older player would try hitting with it. I thinking someone watching it would be interesting in using the stringer with a modern racquet. I have that stringer and it's a good reliable one, and they also have some great strings.

Ok I getcha now, I totally get that point of view. Yeah most people wont want to spend the time or money to learn an outdated frame models string pattern, however with my years as a racquet tech sometimes exceptions occur. In fact I actually gave the example of the Older player bringing in his frame to get strung because it was something that has happened to me personally. Hitting with old frames like that can be a fun time, I actually have played in a couple all wooden racquet tournaments which makes my normal forehand stroke really struggle. But at the end of the day I just wanted to put the information out there just in case someone wants to know or has that one in a thousand customer that brings in a classic frame. Its a good stringing machine very solidly built, I did do a video with it showing people how to string on a manual crank machine using a racquet that isn't from the 1960s. I agree about the strings, gamma glide is actually my string of choice for crosses. Anyway take care and happy stringing!
