Great videos, learning a lot from you. I have a question. As you are shooting in 30 and 60 FPS, what speed is your timeline set to. This always confuses me as some videos say the timeline must be set as the same rate as the shooting rate. Can you explain this please. I'm just learning editing and I need to understand what I am doing.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Thanks! 24fps timeline for me always. Most of the time I’m changing the footage speed to match (30 x .8 = 24, 60 x .4 = 24) etc. That will get the smoothest look but it still plays back fine if there are too many frames per second (like if you leave it at full speed or an in between speed) Once exported (at 24fps) I haven’t really ever noticed it looking off. But if you go too slow or the other way around it will look choppy (ex: 24fps footage on a 30fps timeline)

Thanks! Autofocus unless it isn't working for a particular shot (tracking a detail shot is a typical scenario where I might use MF). Aperture is up to you! @@realmananpatel_1 Nice! If you're able to use a cool looking Airbnb or hotel for practice that is a great option to speed things up with making a portfolio (since no homeowners & realtors approval is involved). I'd do some local research and see what people are charging vs what you're wanting to offer. Of course its somewhat subjective but it helps to know what you're up against and what the market is willing to pay so far.

@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Shutter should be 1/50 for 24fps - that will give you a little more light. I use f2.8 most of the time unless it’s super bright but idk if your lens can do that. A few things that can help: try 1/25 shutter speed and do slower movements to avoid motion blur for super dark rooms. Also switching off of log for those rooms can help since in-camera noise reduction is pretty good (on low setting). Also sometimes I’ll just get more detail shots with a faster lens for those types of rooms. Hope that helps! Sometimes it’s not something you can do much about.

Hi Taylor, I'm curious. I notice you film wide shoots at 30fps and detailed shots at 60fps then reduce speed by 40,% and 80% do they match the 24p timeline. Why don't you just film both wide and detailed at say 60 fps or 30 fps? Wouldn't you end up with same results? Thanks Bryan
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Just a personal choice - the speeds usually work for me when I do it that way for those two types of shots - so its faster for editing. Also my EOSR doesn't do too great with high iso's so shooting wides at 30 lets me shoot at the native ISO (400) as much as possible (at f2.8). For details I can also film at the native ISO at 60fps since I use my 50mm at 1.8 usually. I would probably do 60fps for everything if I had a Sony though! (native iso's are 640 and 12,800 for a7siii and fx3) - Might have to get one!
