Thanks Becky! My survival tips are: ♥ Grated Ginger in hot lemon water ♥ Magnesium taken at night ♥ Hot teas and rice cakes if in pain. ♥ Charcoal sometimes too. ♥ Low FodMAP =saved my life, i rarely suffer anymore since following this. ♥ Exercise- mostly walking. ♥ Low residue diet helps me at certain times too when its due to hormonal reasons. ♥ Sometimes high fat food like chocolate (preferably dark), but milk too, can really help to work things along through my system if that makes sense...but other times chocolate would make things worse. Gosh, i spent so many years in excruciating pain. I hate to think others out there are still suffering.

Hi I'm a new subscriber... thanks for your tips , really good to remind myself of the self care tips that I forget to do. I have been diagnosed for 20 years but also had it for the 20 years before that. My tips are sticking as strictly as possible to FODMAPS and Keto diets. Basically i dont eat carbs. Using laxatives if I need to, to avoid piles and diverticulitis. Whenever I relax the rules it all goes wrong and I end up in bed for the day . Then I use peppermint pills for cramps and charcoal pills for bloating. I dont know anyone else with this and I often feel isolated, so it's good to watch your videos and read the comments. Many thanks.

Hi Jess, aw sorry to hear you're feeling so tired. I often find actually doing more makes me feel less tired... even though when I feel tired the last thing I want to do it get up and move! It definitely helps my IBS to try and be active as well. Hmm I'm not 100% sure really. Stress is a massive factor for me and I have been quite stressed recently. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what foods are causing a lot of the pain, so I think it is the combo of having IBS and certain things I've eaten... but just not sure what they are!! Glad low fodmap is making you see improvements though :D x

Thank you so much Becky! it's so nice to see someone making videos about IBS, because it's something that bother us every single day... I have a question, do you think that this condition has no cure? whenever this thought comes to my mind i just want to stay in my bed and do nothing. I mean my mental health is not the best but i know that someday i'll get better, anyways i'm such an impatient person so it's really difficult to keep a positive attitude & to be honest sometimes i think my ibs is getting worst... What about you? have you accepted the fact that IBS is a long term condition? what comes to your mind during a flare up? xx
@BeckyExcell
@BeckyExcell 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Claudia, no problem I really enjoy making them, it helps me too! If I'm honest I don't truly think there is a solid cure as IBS is one of those things where everyone suffers slightly differently so it's hard. I think it can be managed which can mean you rarely get symptoms, but I'm still working out how to manage mine... obviously I manage it to a degree but I'm never symptom free really. & yes I can agree on IBS getting worse... over the years mine seems to have got worse really, I can eat a lot less now that I used to and I get stomach issues more often. I struggle a lot mentally too with it, when it just flares up out of nowhere. I'm lucky that Mark is always there to help me when I'm feeling negative. I think it is something I'll have forever, I just hope I can manage it better and it doesn't affect me everyday, maybe just once a week would be fine! Flare ups definitely make me sad, but I know i'll feel better eventually for a period of time! I really hope you feel better physically and mentally, if you ever need to chat, message me :) xx

Hey, oh god I'm so sorry to hear all of that. It's not fair to have to deal with that. For me nausea is a really hard thing to get rid of. I literally need to lie down and gently sip on a peppermint tea. Also I know it's silly but just trying in anyway to take my mind off of it.. watching telly etc. I hope you are feeling a little better today :) xx

I carry Nauzene in my purse. Never leave this house without it. My pharmacist recommend this and It is a life saver for me. Most of the time on a normal strength flare up it makes the naseau and pain go away in 4 minutes. When I am having a flare up I spend most of my time in a scalding hot bath because it seems to really help me. Other times I have horrendous abdominal pain and nothing can make it go away yesterday and today have been like that for me :( why do my flares last so long like constant spasms and cramping for something close to 38 hours with no relief. My husband is annoyed because I'm always in the bath so have falling behind in house chore. It's really weird sometimes he is so sympathetic and others he gets frustrated. Than we argue or I feel even worse because of the stress. I always feel like I'm letting my family down and they deserve someone to provide them with a clean house to live in and home cooked meals majority of the nights because I'm a stay at home mom. These things are my job. I make sure my kids are not neglected and they are very healthy and happy and know how loved and cherished they are but somedays I still feel so insufficient.

Hi Becky, which peppermint tea brand do you suggest ? I’d like to try peppermint tea but it’s difficult to find in France...
@BeckyExcell

I always go Pukka Tea but if you can't find it in France, I'd just grab a handful of fresh mint and leave it in hot water for 5 minutes. It works just as well! When we were in Paris, we couldn't find Peppermint tea anywhere! x
