Best place to settle down is warm climate . You don't have to worry about winters or food shortage, but I gotta admit winter and snow bring their unique feeling to the game

Marking surface copper is a lesson i learned the hard way. I was running around grabbing them up until i eventually saw the tooltip that said there was copper under there xD I was struggling to remember all the places i had seen copper bits before and ended up having to search for it, far from my base

Yep it's amazing how many times I struggled with that until I saw @ashantin3 dig up a good amount under some surface bits she found.

I'm just coming out of my first winter. It's been rather boring, as I was limited in what I could do. I had no armor yet and I had no warm clothes (and didn't know the repair trick), so I had to stay close to home. Also, the days are short and drifters spawn at night, so I spent a lot of time hiding in my house. (The higher the temporal activity, the sooner after sunset they seem to spawn, so you can be hiding for many hours.) I did as much outside as I could during the day, running in to warm up by cooking a meal over the fire around early afternoon before having a second work session outside. I've done a bit of terraforming around my house, put in a perimeter fence, and expanded my farms and tidied up a bit. Then, in the long evenings and late mornings, I worked on leathermaking, pottery, and tools/smithing. So, if you aren't up for exploring your first winter, save up indoor projects to keep you occupied while the snow and drifters howl outside you door. Also, if you go to sleep before drifters arrive, and get up close enough to dawn, you won't have any show up to bother you. They show up about 4-5 hours after sunset when temporal activity is calm or low, but start subtracting an hour from that amount every time it ticks up a level. It goes the same way at dawn, with lower activity meaning you can get up earlier. With low activity, you can generally get up at 3:30 AM safely. In winter, though, you'll want to try to sleep in an extra hour or two. I upgraded my hay mat to a proper bed at the start of winter because it allows me to sleep longer and avoid most of the drifter spawns. The fewer times my cellar gets invaded, the better.

Great recommendations, 👍. Mostly though, you made it through your first winter and learned how to make the next winter even easier.

Thank you, that was very helpful. And I would have been disappointed if you had not added that one famous line. 😉

Have you considered updating this??? I love the narration and your editing skills are next level!!! IF YouBoob ever deigns to promote any of your videos, you should quickly become a VS superstar. If we could only convince the masses of the superiority VS has over other, more popular yet vastly inferior, block games, you might be able to quit that damn day job... It's just a thought. Have a great day!

I just got into the bronze age with some tin I got from a ruin, so nothing renewable, and I found a loooad of magnetite, should I go iron age that soon ?
@Shino_Gaming

Congratulations 🎊!! I have done that before if I have found iron ore before tin. It doesn't hurt to push through tiers just don't loose track on the fact that you will probably sill need tin at some point.

Good video. Do rocks still prevent spawns?

Yes they do, at least in 1.18.15 I just ran a test in a void area where I built a platform. Half with stones and half without when I set the time to night, they only spawned on the non rock area.
