if you play on pc, you can bind them to different buttons and you can still activate abilities even if they're not in the shown ability bar.

Press G, click on the arrow to the right of the dps number. Bottom of the screen will have I and II to set weapon. This menu also has the attack without moving which is great for mouse movement if you dont use WASD.

When you equip a weapon into any of the 4 weapon slots its "attack skill" will be added to your skill menu (openable with G) So you just equip the attack skill to the button you want to press to use that skill, and when you press to use that skill you will automatically change to the weapon required to use the attack, no need to manually change weapon set Careful with scepters tho, like the "summon undead" ones When you change weapon set it will despawn the undead minions, even if you have a second scepter in the second weapon set, it will respawn new minions near you

Best approach is as the comment mentioned above tough you can still do the same as in the video with the default button "x" which you can change in the options keybinding\inputs menu.

As mercenary, using the shield or bow will disable my crossbow. I'm trying to switch automatically, but if I use the second set, then my primary weapon becomes non-firing.... so it just doesn't work because it will not switch back. He just holds the crossbow vertically at attention and will only fire regular bolts, but won't use any other crossbow ammo even if I reload the clip with different ammo.

You have to set a spare space on your cast bar for the 2nd weapons skills. When you hit the "2nd weapon skills" it auto swaps to the weapon. You don't actually need to weapon swap. Hope that makes sense @ezet

On console, click on the skill and click “skill options”. If you have the skill from a gem, you can pick weapon set 1 or 2. If the skill comes only from a weapon, like a staff, it has to use that weapon to cast it.

u dont understand that some weapons require 2 hands? u cant equip a shield if ur holding a crossbow, what exactly dont u understand? theres 4 weapon slots and u can use all 4 of them. if u put in two 2 handed weapons ull only use 2 of the 4 slots...
