Now this should help me, I tend to stretch my arm during my recovery, making the stroke very straining, making the recovery not so much of a recovery.

Just started swimming lessons and I am so frustrated!! I can not get my arms to work properly. can't get my arms out the water high enough and keep rushing everything when I do...only do 1 lesson a week wish I could do more.

The only reason I make it to the other end of the pool during swim p.e is so I don't drown. My legs are like my very own anchor.

is it wrong to wait for u other arm comes (keeping it straight) before doing the bentstroke, or u have to bent already before the other one reachs u... i used to keep it straight and one the other comes y bent it but someone told me was wrong but i see on the videos she waits, im confused... thanx ;)

juandark85 to have a longer smooth stroke you have to keep your front arm as long as you can during the recovery of the other arm. Do not drop the leading arm too soon and especially while breathing. There is a point where she waits for the recovery arm during a drill called catch up drill. Make a search for CATCH UP DRILL it is another issue. Roughly I can advice you to keep the leading arm straight until the recovery arm is entering the water. So when one hand is just about to enter the water the leading arm drops to the catch position. Hope it gives an idea for the timing.

Question. Is a straight arm pull or catch a wrong technique?
@mustaphab.11906 жыл бұрын
Alex depends. If you are only a recreational summer swimmer don't bother too much, try to enjoy every swim. If you swim regularly you should learn and apply high elbow catch sooner or later. Basically the difference is; sprinters tend to use straight arm, and longer distance swimmers use high elbow. Cheers
