it's a good idea to tie it so it's more secure but it might unravel if it's cut too short. you can always tie a knot and still crochet the ends in

I have been crocheting for 3 year. But I've never had the patience to crochet something big and I've kind of quit over time. But I've been watching your Temperature blanket series and it inspired me to to start crocheting again. I hope to start a bigger project soon. And maybe next year I will start a tempature blanket. Yeah because it looks like you've only weaved them in one direction, it might work better of you leave a longer end and crochet over the end over 3 rows. I hate weaving but I think I'll stick to doing it the normal way. Feels more secure

I have used this method forever, however, I fold the “tails” up and over the new yarn BEFORE make the single chain. Then I continue on just as you showed. It does save A LOT of time

What if you followed what she does in the video but also tie the tails of the yarn together? I’m not sure how it would work but it might add a little extra comfort since the knot would still be there but hidden and secured with the technique used in the video. I haven’t switched colours much when crocheting and haven’t crocheted in a little while but definitely want to start again soon. I’m definitely the same way though, I tie knots whenever I’m worried about how a yarn project will hold together (knitting, crocheting, etc).

Those ends are not secure. You must "weave" in your ends back and forth. These will work their way loose and leave holes as the blanket gets used and washed ✌️❤️😊

Agreed. Used this method on a blanket for my mom and all the ends are poking through. It’s annoying to weave but it’s well worth it.

I always tie a knot before I crochet over my ends. I had a blanket come out of the wash with an end undone and unraveled about 6 rows once. After that I ALWAYS tie a knot. It works the same, you just tie a small knot before you work over the ends. :)

I use this same technique, although I leave the tails a bit longer. I usually crochet them into the row for about 10 stitches and then weave the tail back on itself twice. This ensures the yarn goes a different direction 3 times so it won’t come out. Tedious, but I’ve never had a project unravel doing it this way. Crocheting it into the row the first time just saves you from weaving it once.

Ty for the refresher. I suffered a stroke and could no longer hold the small, thin, typical hook in my hand tightly or properly and 3yrs later, I finally got myself a nice ergonomic set with rubber handles. My 10yo son said he wants a scarf bc it is currently -3 outside and I couldn't remember how to drop a color completely. I really hope I don't let him down. This is my 1st project since then.

I would throw just a quick little double knot on there, and I do because I've had projects come apart like this because just weaving in those ends isn't going to necessarily secure it enough to prevent that from unraveling. Especially if it's a blanket or something that you've told the person they can wash in a machine, even on delicate
