Just took apart my Maytag Atlantis and fixed the continual squealing. Great, great video, Ken! I had to watch the part about putting the belt on correctly several times to understand it. Boy, I’m dense. The total parts needed was $4 in grease and new roller clips. Now any new renters will be happy.

Thanx for taking the tine to make this teaching video. If I would add anything, it would be a reassembly video. The fact that the 2 front pieces with the wiring are separate pieces caused me a little trouble during the reassembly. Very good. One note -- the small screws on the front panel attach the inner panel for the dryer support with the felt srips. No need to remove them, and it saves a step on reassembling. They are the inside screws lower left and upper right. Thanks for the extra video in the belt disassembly -- doing it by feel is OK once you have done it. Keeping the wires clear on belt and panels is a little tricky but you pointed it out well enough. And like you said -- always unplug from power. I serviced home appliances in the base housing while in the Air Force, but that was over 50 years ago -- you made it easy.

It was a cool 67 degrees when I did this, my first appliance repair. I replaced all three wheels pretty easily but getting the belt replaced was really tricky. I couldn't stretch it onto the pully so I put a space heater inside the drum, warmed it all to 80 degrees to loosen it up and bingo, got just enough extra stretch and got the belt around the motor shaft. A follow up video showing the tricks of putting it all back together would be helpful.

@@ashleyhaak1090 The correct part number for the belt for your model number is WP33002535. It should have the same number of ribs as the original belt, IF your dryer still has original belt on it. On this style maytag dryer, the ribs side of belt sits on the drum. You're Welcome, glad the video helped. And thank you for the donation! As for removing the lint from the blower housing, it can be done by just removing the blower box and lint trap cover from the bottom of the front bulkhead. Just remove the screws that hold it onto the bulkhead, remove the lint trap from inside, and the outer lint trap cover should be removable so you can clean it and the blower out.

Also, you do still have to remove the front door and the front trip piece to expose the bottom lint trap housing...

Good job. Wish you had addressed the felt. I noticed the drum was marked like mine where the felt had slipped off. Or is that not a concern?
@kensappliancerepair99712 жыл бұрын
The felt is what the front and back edges of the drum seal against when it is all put together. The felts do need to be in place, otherwise it would be metal against metal and make a horrible screeching sound and eventually would cut through the bulkhead where the felt is missing. It is in place on this video. The shiny rubbed part you see on the surface of the drum is where it rubs or slides against the bearing slides on the front drum supports. This does need those vinyl slides to be in place, which they are on this video as well. But they rub and do make the shiny wear pattern on the drum surface, they all do with this design. The felt had not slipped off on this video. As for yours, if it did, then by all means address it, it does need to be in place on the bulkhead, but again its the edge of the drum that makes contact with it, not that shiny ring on the outer drum surface! Hope this helps!

Thank you for the video. I accidentally disconnected the moisture sensor wiring and apparently put the wire back on incorrectly as the dryer runs continuously if I use sensor drying - can only use timed drying. Do you have information on how the wires should be on the moisture sensor?
@kensappliancerepair99713 жыл бұрын
Most machines only use a single wire attached to the sensor. It would be on the front side of the front bulkhead, located on the outer side from the sensor. It would be a single spade that the single wire from the wire harness would attach to. Hope this helps.
@markclauder48813 жыл бұрын
@@kensappliancerepair9971 I looked at the wiring schematic and figured it out. Mine has three spade locations to connect to. One goes to a ground wire. The blue wire goes to the other sensor strip. I had it on the same strip as the ground wire. Now it works. Thank you again for your reply.

My dryer stopped heating, but still spins normally, I cleaned out all the lint. Any suggestions or first things to check?

If i have to replace the gas valve coils...are they in the front...bottom right hand side? My gas line goes in from the rear on the right side.

Do you have to remove the drum before removing the front bulkhead? My clothes got stuck in between the lint trap and front bulkhead
@kensappliancerepair99715 жыл бұрын
You remove the front door panel, and then the front bulkhead, and then the drum if you need to. Based on what you have going on, you probably do not have to remove the drum though.
