What are some tips you recommend for taking care of elder gerbils? 💛

I know this is a slightly older video, but thank you so much for sharing this. My partner and I got two lovely gerbils 2 years ago and finding videos about gerbils and gerbil care, especially as they get older and having such a close bond with them, has been hard to come across! I just discovered your channel and I can't wait to watch more of your other content to learn more about ways to give my gerbils the best life. I never knew how unique and special gerbils really are, and I am so thankful they came into my life. It is so clear how much you loved your little fur babies, and they lived an amazing and fulfilling life with you. I hope you continue your journey of teaching about and sharing the love for these amazing creatures! You have made a wonderful difference.

I agree so much with every gerbil ages differently. Five of our gerbils have passed and each one felt different. We have had one pair declan which was really stressful, especially because we tried to bond them again, unsuccessfully. Our other two pairs remained together for their entire lifetime. In terms of passing, two of the gerbils had a slow health decline before passing. Three of them passed without any apparent health problems. All of them were less active on their wheels as they aged. Additionally, something I’ve noticed is that as the gerbils aged, they allowed themselves to be handled more, which was helpful for health checks but seems counterintuitive. Four of our five gerbils that passed we found them in their enclosure. Unfortunately, one that passed we witnessed their passing, which frankly was absolutely awful to see and I couldn’t watch. However, even with all that I loved all of our gerbil babies and am better because of them ❤️

Nice video Shine. That's a cute name.😊 I used to breed gerbils years ago I had about 30 but gave a few away, we winded up separating the males from females so we didn't have like 100 lol. I had one gerbil who lived 4 and half years once.
