I have a viscous 50 years in the making inner voice. But I gave it a high squeaky voice and laughed out loud. This was a great video and newsletter. Thank you!!

I really like the idea of changing the inner voice to make it easier to dismiss. Similarly, a previous therapist would tell me "Thoughts are not facts, they are only thoughts. Feelings are not facts, they are only feelings" as a way of reducing the impact of unwanted intrusive brainworms and their assumed validity.

Yes! I love that. Honestly, anything that we do in that moment of the thought arising is going to be a step in the right direction because it means that we are aware of the thought and we are being mindful of it as a problematic inner experience rather than reality.

Genius. I imagined myself failing, strongly and vividly, but with the Benny Hill song in the background. I laughed out loud!!! 😂🎉❤

I watched the whole video prior to these shorts. I like having the whole picture and then having the breakdown to focus on 1 step at a time. Thank you!

I just tried imagining a Dalek shouting criticisms at me and not only was it very funny, but it also helped to highlight just how ridiculously draconian my inner critic can be.

I love these ideas! I've used a similar technique for some things, but never thought to modify the voices of my inner critic. So very useful! Thanks!

Thank you! I’m so glad it makes sense to you (I’m sure plenty of people think it too daft to make a difference but it really does) 🖤

Love these videos. So easy to follow and so much information is relayed in such short bursts. I really like your style and presentation. Thank you so much for making these. I have a question about the inner critic: Have you had clients with no inner monologue? And if so, how did you apply these methods with them? I definitely have a harsh inner critic in terms of having negative thoughts about myself and the world, but there's no voice, dialogue or even any solid visuals happening. It's all abstract; concepts, feelings and partly something else don't really know how to describe. I'm having a hard time intercepting the critic, so to speak. It's like it's everywhere at once and at the same time it's nowhere. Edit: There are visuals too sometimes and/or partially and your tips on that look really good!

I realised that my inner critic sounds like my ex-husband, who emotionally and psychologically hurt me for 20 years. We divorced 14 years ago, so I can't believe it's STILL his voice in my head. Geez. Changing that voice is an extremely powerful act. Thank you. ❤

Argh! That is _such_ a massive realisation. Well done! 🖤

This is going to sounds cliché but he seems like a narcissist, I would high suggest Sam Vaknin's video on why narcissist's voice still lingers in your head.

I find Ygritte's mocking voice very effective in this context.
