@@wrathfullys That's really more of a salonist's job. Many men feel uncomfortable going to a salon, however, due to gender associations. Generally a good rule to follow is a salon for the top, and a barber for the face. Salons handle women more and are thus much better at hair and fitting styles to faces, whereas the male-dominated barber is, obviously, going to be less experienced with complicated hairdos but will handle facial hair like an absolute unit.

Thank you for giving these tips. Last haircut I had completely unevenly cut the above the ear fade. I told my regular stylist it was an important cut as I’m going to vacation in Palm Springs. I wear glasses, so if this isn’t done well, the hair sticks out from the frames. She’s always had a problem with this. Before she worked on the ears, she had someone come in wanting to buy gift certificates so she rushed my cut and was a 1/4 inch difference on the ears! I was self-conscious about it the whole vacation. I will never go back to her again.

While this generally works, one of the worst haircuts I've ever had involved me giving my usual description (3 on top, 1 1/2 on the sides, long taper, blocked in the back). I got no taper at all and a ragged neckline. So, step #0, especially if you get a clipper cut, is to find someone whose hair looks good and ask where he gets it cut.

I don't talk to barbers, unless they talk to me, I just want them to cut my hair and I'll be on my way.

The BEST haircut I ever had was from a barbershop on the Viale de Lavoro in Ciampino, a quite close suburb of Rome. All communication was done using hand gestures! He didn't speak English and my Italian sucked then.

Half the guys here entered because they wanted to know how to make small talk with your barber lmao
@loudee26758 жыл бұрын
The all out best thing to say is "hello" or some other kind of greeting first. A lot of people walk in, and because they're fixed on what they need, just start asking or demanding things like; "how long before me", "do I have to wait", or "how much is it". Where those questions are expected some kind of greeting first is awesomely appreciated when people walk in.

1/2" left on top 1/3" left on sides square off the back Done. Edit: Not trying to sound rude here, just my hair grows thick, not long. There is nothing else I can do with it, doesn't matter if I go to a $55 barber, or a $20 barber, I get the same results, just the $55 one is run by a conservative zealot who likes to talk politics while holding a straight razor to my neck; the $20 one is usually a cute girl around my own age.

I tell this to my man all the time.Dont go get your haircut at those silly chain hair salons. The women in those shops are stupid females who couldnt do anything else with thier lives but, take the easy way out and go to cosmotology school. . and guess what? They all suck. Go to a man, a barber. Its worth spending the $30- $55 dollars. They know what thrye doing, and no a mans haircut from a mans perspective!
@CubNole10 жыл бұрын
You've got a point. My city is full of lousy chain cuts. I need to find a veteran barber, I think I can deal with someone's "politics" long enough to get a good quality trim.
@DrunkenCokeHead42110 жыл бұрын
why are u payin that much money? who cuts hair for 55?! 20-30 dollars for a haircut, really...? the fuck do u ppl live
@Ultrox00710 жыл бұрын
DrunkenCokeHead421 "Who cuts hair for $55?!" ...the mens barber shops who need the extra money to stay open and hope their "olde timey" feel (and by that I mean extreme conservatism) will help them keep the older men coming. Though I will say that at said salons populated with women hair "stylists" I did get one bad haircut once. And by "bad" I mean she missed a spot on the back left of my neck. I just shaved it off when I got home. But yeah my hair is so thick I can literally do NOTHING with it. Just "shorter". And once I get a job I'll buy my own set of sheers and just do it myself.

This video definitely helps I normally get the usual short back and sides but I never know how much I want off the top so I just say just a trim on the top I notice that every time I say this it can be completely different each time you just need to say what you want in detail

Another thing, avoid being overly specific in terms of how you want us to do what you want done. I'm talking about clients that try to map out a haircut for us, like a number one here, then fade up to here with a number 7, and then cut like this, etc. Stuff like this is usually more restricting, especially when you (the client) don't know a darn thing about cutting hair, and you usually sound silly and misuse terminology. You'll get a much better cut if you answer our questions, and just let us do our thing within the realm of your answers. How do you wear your hair? Do you want to be able to comb it? Do you usually style your hair? How close do you like your sides? We ask you questions to figure out what you want. If you don't know what you want, it's our job to probe. Also, if you're a grown man, don't bring your wife or girlfriend to talk to the barber for you lol Unless she's cutting your hair or I'm cutting her hair, I don't need to talk to her!

I was thinking about switching to another barbershop (my current one is more of a cheap hair salon, where i had the same haircut for 10 years). The problem is: i don't have any idea what kind of haircut i want, or what kind of haircut will suit met. Another problem: the closest and most affordable real barbershop has turkish barbers, so i'm not even sure they speak my language, lol(last time i checked they didn't, instead they've got a boy-translator).
@ChinchillupaGuy8 жыл бұрын
Look online for haircuts for men with your hair type. If you like one, try it. Generally the rule of thumb is that if you have a wider head, you want to go short on the sides and longer on top to elongate the look of your head. If you have an already long head, you generally want a haircut that gives your head a wider appearance. You also have to consider your jaw line. If you have a super square jaw, and you get a super boxy hair cut, your head is going to be a square, so you should avoid haircuts the stand up in a boxy symmetrical way, unless you're going for a square look. Thats the gist of it
