I highly appreciate this video!! Definitely needed it I have some looser curls which is probably because I use heavy products since the rest of my hair has tighter curls and they’re more curlier thank you!

This is so informative, thank you! I've only recently started looking into the ingredients in order to identify products light/heavy. I found this very helpful to find suitable products for my hair.

I NEED this advice! Thank you so much! I think I have been using products that are too heavy. I'm going to try some lighter products on my hair. I have low porosity, and I think the heavy products are just sitting on top of my hair and causing buildup. I think I need to clarify, then use some lighter products, with maybe a heavy conditioning treatment once a week.

Yes, doing all that should help since you have low porosity hair. Good luck!

I have high density, coarse hair but sometimes I want to use lightweight products as they cut down on the diffusing time. And they cause less buildup.

Yes, I think lightweight products are great for all hair types!

Well I have fine hair but I have a lot of hair. I also have low porosity hair. I did the test, and my hair floats meaning it does not absorb moisture. So, I need lightweight products that will absorb. Heavy products sit more on top or coat the hair.

As best I understand, you shouldn’t count the extracts as individual ingredients because they are basically used with the water as a “tea” that the rest of the ingredients are mixed with. They should be counted as a single ingredient because they are infused with the water which is one ingredient. But otherwise good information. The other thing I will add is that sometimes it comes down to the formulation. I often see people using creams that they thought would be too heavy for them but then they are perfectly fine.

Yes, they are basically the same as water but I wanted to make sure people understand they are lightweight. And yes formulation is important but much more technical 😄 Maybe one day I will learn more about that. Thanks for watching!

Seems like some products are a little too thick sometimes regardless of the ingredients, personally every deep conditioner I ever tried thus far has made my hair flat as a pancake and it took me awhile to notice the difference when my hair dried and lost all it's volume, not too long after I figured out why. It's about time I move on from those honestly, they seem like a overly slow way to moisturize hair anyway (weekly use) compared to a leave-in conditioner or spray or something, and the last one I used was allegedly fine for type 2 hair, so either that was just a lie or it's just not made for medium porosity or medium texture (although I think texture rarely matters for anything). Now there's a possibility I looked over some heavy ingredients (it's hard looking through the whole list form top to bottom) but I honestly don't think I did (if so it wouldn't even be good for type 2 hair), doesn't surprise me though, deep conditioners are made to be thick anyway, maybe some are light enough but the only one I found so far is shea moisture weightless mask and that has protein in it so nah, hair would probably still be bone-dry lol. That's really why it's so dry right now, too many "two-in-ones" that were too heavy on top of it, I guess products can't moisturize your hair too well if the ingredients all clog it up first instead in the process, also I just started my (whole year long up to this point, almost finished) hair journey this year so yeah it was quite a mess and obviously dry due to that as well, don't ask me why now as a 19 (and a half+ now) year old I decide to start, I'm not too sure.

Your hair sounds like mine. Don't deep condition anymore and just use shampoo, conditioner, and gel. Super simple and won't weigh down your hair.

would you consider pectin or xanthum gum as heavy or light?
@HolisticEnchilada
@HolisticEnchilada 4 жыл бұрын
Those are used in such miniscule amounts I wouldn't worry about them. They are "thick" but not made of oils or butters.

@@HolisticEnchilada Thanks! Sorry I should have mentioned previously that I was asking about a product that does have these ingredients in the first 5 ingredients (Camille Rose Latte). It is a curl definition cream and only has 6 ingredients (Pectin infused water, black cumin seed oil, sunflower seed oil, xantham gum, glucose, optiphen). I have medium thickness and density hair, and this product has 2 oils making it lean on the heavy side, but curious if pectin and xanthem gum are light enough that they might make this product not too heavy for my hair type.
