My crush was turning ppl against me behind my back because he didnt feel good enough to have me. All the while I didn't know he was just pretending to like me. It took me two years to realize this because of how convincing he was. At first he told me that I "acted better than everyone else". I would always say nice things about him while he was just playing with my mind and insulting me behind my back to make himself look superior. I'm so shocked and sad.

Hi Marie, I have come to the conclusion that some people will not like me because I am nice. That sounds crazy I know, but I have witnessed people not like me because I am kinder or nicer than they are and it makes them take a hard look at there self. instead of being a beter person, they rather condemn me for existing. Another thing to consider is this: Do you paint yourself in a light when you are around them? If someone were to just say "Oh I'm so nice" I would get pissed at them because that would get annoying . One rule I live by is "Check yourself first."

Wow its have been a year already.. I just want to say that the person I wrote this about-and searched for this video because of them- are now really close to me , .. Always listen to your gut, when something feels off it probably is. One of the best skills to have is honing in on that feeling as soon as you can so you can identify which 'friend's are not your friends.

It’s true, you will meet people that won’t like you, sometimes it’s jealousy, sometimes it’s your political or religious beliefs. But if your a person with a average sense of awareness you will know it if you give them the attention you should during conversation. Don’t let it bother you, just move on . But I do understand that in social gatherings they very well may throw a zinger your way or even a back handed insult. These situations call for tact, stay above the fray, remember the problem with slinging mud is you can’t do it without getting muddy!

i wish i could have a friend like you. your videos help me to listen to my gut instinct and how to REALLY read people and how they feel about you no matter how much they try to cover it up. VIBES are the first thing i listen to because lets face it we can sense when someone is two-faced. also their body language too, if its tense around you they probably can't wait for you to leave. i'm learning in life to avoid these people cause they only make me feel awkward and life is too short for people i'm not incompatible with. I don't care how much others like/love this person, but if I feel that something is "off," about someone, I pay attention. My gut is generally right. I have been in situations where I totally ignored my gut feeling, and completely regretted it. Now, I listen to my gut, and so far for the most part, it has kept me out of trouble.

What about when everyone you meet takes a liking to you initially, but after a while every little fault you have just seems to irritate the shit out of them? You know for fact that at one point they really did like you, and you could really feel that warmth between the two of you, that you talked about, but then something changed, and everything just started going to hell in a handbag. Also, how can you relate to people you don't share any common experiences or interests with? Like say for example you were extremely sheltered as a child due to over protective parents, so you really didn't get to experience the things others did while growing up, and therefore you don't think the same way they do. Not to mention because of this you didn't get to develop good social skills. How in the hell can you possibly relate to them in that case, especially if it happens to be girl you like, but yet your situation is as stated?

Yes, this video totally helped me out at one point. I was going to this kayaking group here in town with a friend I knew from Neighborhood Watch. Anyways, the leader of the group was this shorter, older Italian guy from another town. But he had grown up here. My friend and I would help him load kayaks at the end and I just got this vibe again and again that he was a jerk. (Nothing against Italians btw, just telling the type) MY friend and this guy totally vibed well and were buddy buddy. But when I tried to talk to him he ignored me and kept making sarcastic comments about if I was going to come to the next events. One day I was helping him load kayaks, as my friend invited me to do that. He kept on with his fakeness, sarcasm, and threw my personal effects around to boot. That was it for me! I had had enough, even though my buddy (ken)kept saying I was reading too much into this and was wrong, etc.. I never went to another event with that group and this asshole. One day he was driving down my street and I flipped him off. Served him right. He did not see that though. LOL!! Then last week I was on a walk and he drove by, actually asked me why I was not going to the events any more and said he missed me. BARF!! I thought that would be a great "healthy" event to be involved in that group. But this guy was a total bully and a jerk, and he'd treated others poorly as well. A friend said he was just showing off (he's like 59 and I"m 40) maybe he was just jealous and saw me as a cock-block. Who knows. But trust your feelings and gut peeps! We have those reactions for a reason. If you can get out of that situation, do it. Don't care what others think. You have to save yourselves from emotional abuse. Peace and thanks Marie.

I have had this happen to me as well in the workplace and had thought I was being silly but its nice to know no I wasn't! in my workplace there is a woman who had it in for me even before I opened my mouth when I started there. I was hurt by this and had been in hysterics crying to a proper friend who says how people like that aren't worth my precious time and how they're not very nice people to know being like that when you have done nothing wrong and to tell her to piss off! a nice colleague had noticed this and had felt it wasn't very nice either and I said no it wasn't but it was their loss at the end of it all but still its hurtful when you have done nothing to merit that kind of treatment but screw them! a form of currency was her and her friends going for tea in front of me and treating me like I was invisible which had hurt my feelings but decided that when they do that I would go the other way to get away from them making up some excuse and that I did and felt better for it! I feel sorry for people like that as under the superior attitude is a load of insecurities and the insecurities manifest as nasty attitude but fuck them life's too short!

I am in this situation. One colleague from the get go has acted coolly toward me although she is friendly when I speak to her first and she is helpful too when I ask her for help or to do something for me. But she never says good morning to me - just breezes past and ignores me and says it to those she does like. I have concluded that her dislike of me is less personal and more pragmatic. So many on my team have not stayed all that long - just a year or two - and I think she is one of those people who only wants to be emotionally invested in those who are long stayers and unlikely to be promoted or move on. She is only warm toward about 4-5 of the team for that reason. She has been like this since day 1, so I am not taking it seriously and she hasn't affected anyone's else's opinion of me either. The others are warm, friendly and treat everyone the same way. This woman s also very cliquish with another woman who I don't like - who is noisy, rudely outspoken and childish. So I guess she is a lost cause. I agree with you, though. Trying to get them to like you is pointless. I tried brining in her favourite biscuits into the office. Her attitude hasn't changed a jot. I would conclude that she is professionally OK but not friendly.

one thing you mentioned- SARCASM its used in such a disrespectful way.. people use it incorrectly a lot sarcasm about the weather = good sarcasm about a person = bad it can be so frustrating when people use it against you because they think they are being funny but its just rude.. like for example, i told a girl "hey you can come over whenever you want" and she sarcastically said "ok i'll do that" and i was thinking "what did i say that made her say that?" and i don't know what i did.. i try to overlook things like that a few times until it becomes predictable btw she was actually AT MY HOUSE when we had that conversation, it wasn't like i just met her on the street (i say that because i know someone will comment me asking me if i know her well enough or whatever)

Anne-Sophie, if you are not in the same year, you could just "happen" to talk to him one day, and ask him about some of the classes he has already taken that you are taking now. There has to be at least one. You could say that you always see him around and you know he is, say a junior, so he might know how hard bio2 would be, and should you take it...that sort of thing. If he is a year behind, you could "notice" one of the books he is carrying and mention that you took that same class and it was really hard, or something to that effect. Just find some excuse to start a conversation. You have nothing to lose!

Okay, so you seem like a very sweet and wise person. I'm going to just leave this question here for anyone to answer if they feel like it. This girlfriend I have is maybe two hours away from me, we met online. We spent over a year talking and having good times over the internet/gaming. She has this very obnoxiously fake nicey personality sometimes and it's totally faulty, but on occasion she can actually be a really good friend. Listening to me, bending an ear, being really caring.. But she just acts jealous, spiteful, and just plain not interested other times. It's almost as if I'm just something she picks up when she's bored. But on the other hand, she acts this way with tons of people that she talks to. So.. Is this something that I should just ignore?

Do they ask questions of you? If not its probably because they're not interested in you. They're not interested in finding out. Listen for the resentment they have toward other people that comes to the surface during conversations. A sign they may have passive aggressive tendencys. They maybe harnessing and living by that energy of the dark side. A good indicator and probably the most accurate for me is....do they respect you? In a group setting where they have other friends or just people in general to impress, you will see if they really respect you. Often you may become the butt of jokes.

This happened with someone who use to be a friend, ended up yelling at me the other day saying she has resented me for months just never said anything. She sure didn't like being told what I had to say and everything was my fault...... Now that I look back the signs were there....Now to deal with the gossip I know she'll spread because of it.

Every single job Ive been on at least 1 female will treat me bad by teasing/emasculating me in front of everybody. Then 1 days she said "come spend time with me" while on the job. I have a co worker who is very negative all the time, and I try to keep my distance. He got me so mad one time I called him a 'fling idiot. Not there greatest thing to do, I know I can handle things better than that.
