I have a FiShock UltraShock Model SS4000, Serial # 88234. It no workie. I have drilled the rivets and looked around inside, nothing jumps out at me as being burnt. Are these units generally worth fixing? I am not adverse to buying a new box, but this one does have a bit of sentimental value.

I have a Zareba 6 joule fencer. It puts out 6,000 volts approximately at the fencer. Once I connect it to the fence it drops t around 1,000 volts. I figured I had a short somewhere in my fence. I walked my fence at least 10 times and never could figure out the problem. Went and purchased a 20 joule Cyclops, hooked it up and everything is fine. Can a fencer be bad even if it’s putting out 6,000 v until a load is put on it. Just curious if you had and thoughts on my problem.

If there is a short somewhere that's able to drag down the 6 joule unit, the 20 joule is a lot stronger unit and will likely fight that whatever short of might be. I would invest in an electric fence fault finder.

@@kennethheern4896 Start at the beginning run and if you have multiple lines, test each one and the one with the highest amp readings is the one with the shorts on it. Also, if the kv is still pretty high 5-7kv I wouldn't worry too much. It's when the amps is high and the kv is fairly low, that's when you really have to start running the fence with the fault finder.

Those video is from 2 years ago and I don't know what resistors you were talking about, units they were surface mount, then no I don't bother changing those. They're not labeled, you can't read them, there's no schematics available from the distributors or manufacturer willing to give them out. We remove and solder in all sorts of components all the time. So instead of SMH, why don't you STFU
