How to test and gap a stator pick up pulsar coil / pickup pulser coil / trigger coil / pick-up coil

Our pick-up coils use rare earth material for internal magnet which never loses its properties for a lifelong usage.
Testing a stator trigger coil specifications of 250 ohms and 500 ohms and learning how to gap the pick-up pulsar coil with the flywheel properly to obtain a higher signal, using a multi-meter and a peak voltmeter.
250 ohms & 500 ohms pick-up coils are pretty much standard in magnetos systems and covers many models from many makes. Here are a few make and models that use trigger coils :

Hi my friend, good video, I like to know if all kinds of pick up coils generate low voltage to excite the CDI? My engine is an RM 125 and 92, but it did not generate something voltage i think have a problem from my pick up coil, what do you think ?

The pickup coil generates a positive/negative voltage peak to trigger the CDI. It is very difficult to measure with a multimeter as it happens so fast.

Can incorrect gap on the pulser on the coil cause bogging at full throttle? I have checked and swapped everything, carb, spark plug, plug coils, cdi, swapped out for new gas, hoses, gapped valves, re set my valves, valve stem is good, valve guides looks good, cylinder piston and rings, looks good. Idk what’s going on can someone help, could it be the pickup coil be no good or, just not gapped to specs? Lmk guys thank you

Hi, this is very unlikely. If the pickup coil is producing a good pulse and it is running well otherwise, it is unlikely to be a gap issue at high rpm. I have rarely seen a failing pickup coil cause a poor pulse at very high RPM due to vibration however. If you have absolutely done everything else, it wouldn't hurt to replace it.

That sounds fine. As close as possible without hitting the trigger on the flywheel is best!

Shouldn't a coil with higher resistance give more voltage? More resistance would be on account of greater winding of coil if I am not mistaken. Is there any particular reason why the voltage dropped with an increase in coil resistance?

I thought that the only thing producing voltage in the CDI stator system was the charge coil upon which we apply the magnetic fields across a coil assy. The pickup coil should only "trigger" the discharge of the energy stored within the CDI system. Is this voltage increase a result of a stronger "trigger" signal?

Sorry this is an old video that doesn't really address the issue. You cannot accurately gap and adjust the pickup coil when it is mounted in the sidecover.

sir why some rotors have a recess of 5-7mm in the trigger mark??i mean a trigger mark of 5 mm ...then a recess of 5 mm...then again a trigger mark of around 20mm

It just depends on the ignition system. Some systems use multiple triggers of different lengths to calculate their timing. The CDI is programmed to take these into account.

How do you set the proper gap if the coil is mounted is mounted inside engine cover on my motorcycle..? Its hard because when i put the cover on then i cant see or gert access with tools. Do you have any idea how to properly gap such kind of design..?

Why is it so hard to find info on gapping the pick up coil? Also...an old rule is 10, 20, 30. Not perfect, but it works, 10 thousandths gap for the pick up / spark coil, 20 for the points (its an old rule), 30 for the plug gap.

If you are using a peak Voltage Adapter, DC volts. AC to measure output of source coil by itself.

as my understanding the pick up coil sends you AC voltage, and the peak volt meter stores it in DC, so you get the reading in 12 DC volts

The pickup coil is a short positive/negative pulse, not really AC or DC volts. A Peak Voltage Adapter charges a capacitor so it can be measured in DC volts.
