Wow such a useful video. The reason it’s so different in my opinion is that you explain all the other systems and how they relate to the switch. You talk about the process, etc. most other videos strictly stick to testing the switch with no explanation of what it does or how it relates to the whole system

I have an issue with my furnace the igniter coil is not getting hot everything sounds to cycle but I test the line for power to the coil and nothing.. also the code it’s giving is 3 blinks of witch is a bad flow but I checked everything and nothing seems to be blocking the flow of air . I changed the circuit board . And thinking of changing the coil and pressure switch .. if you have any advice I would appreciate it .

Hey guys, our furnace was running today but no heat. When I checked everything, I noticed one of the wires connected to the pressure switch wasn’t plugged in. When I plugged it back in, the heat came back. Would that have caused no heat? I’m still not sure why the wire was disconnected.

Wow, you video just helped me fix my broken Carrier furnace. The problem was error code 43, known as "Low-heat pressure switch open while high-heat pressure switch is closed". I followed your instructions and determined the pressure switch was working. Then I disconnect the tube from the switch and followed it up to the burner chamber where I found 2 very dead mice clogging the intake funnel for the pressure switch tube. I carefully removed the mice pieces with a vacuum and the furnace fired right up! If you use a vacuum, be certain to disconnect the tube from the pressure switch so the vacuum doesn't blow out the switch. Thank you very much for sharing your expertise!

Thanks for the video. Huge help. About 2 hours ago I had no idea about this order of operations about the inducer motor, pressure switch, and igniter. Just tried turning on my furnace to test it (it is almost 24 years old) and no go. Inducer came on, but nothing else. Well i work on trucks for a living and have no experience with house hvac systems. This video helped me to solve the problem. Pressure switch was not closing when inducer motor kicks on. Tested it by blowing in it, working as it should. Found plugged fitting where the hose goes in by the inducer motor. Cleaned it out and got her flowing. She fires right up now.

Dude, you are a Godsend! House was 48 degrees last night and 40 degrees this morning - and it's 20 degrees outside in the middle of New Hampshire winter. HVAC repair companies told me they could come out in about 7 days to take a look. Thanks to your excellent videos I took my time watching them, was extra careful with turning off power and not touching anything with the power on (other than with meter probes) and found and fixed a flaky pressure switch. House is back to 68 degrees again. Thank you for your excellent videos!

Great video. My home gas furnace would not ignite. I watched several of your related furnace diagnostic videos. I fixed it myself. One of the pressure switches was stuck. I simply blew softly into the tube until I heard the switches click. This fixed the problem. The furnace lit right up. Amazing. Saved me time hassle of calling a repairman, and probably over $200. You are doing a great service. JerryK..

Thank you for the mentioned to trying blowing on it. The heat was not working at my business this morning and the unit said "pressure switch closed". I contacted my landlord to get someone out here ASAP then watched your video, decided to try blowing and tapping on the switch, and got it working again. Of course, someone will still come by to check things out and maybe replace the switch, but at least we are able to run our business until that time comes.

You're a great tech, but more importantly for this purpose, you're a great teacher and videographer. Saved my freezing cold butt and made my wife think I'm a hero! Good tips you gave me: 1) Easy peasy on the suction when testing the pressure switches. The suction created by the inducer is way lower than what you can generate manually. 2) Don't jumper the switch until the unit kicks on and has gone through its self-checks. I never would have considered that. 3) My problem was not the switch. Your videos prompted me to consider the exhaust tube going up through the roof. I don't know what was in there. Vacuum didn't bring anything down, so I reversed the vacuum hose and blew it out. I have no idea was was in there, but once I did this and put it all back together: HEAT! Glorious heat! And just when I was about ready to start burning the furniture too!

How lucky I am as a new tech to have tutorials like this.... It must have taken much longer to learn all this information before HVAC channels like yours came around. Thanks for all content! I try to learn as quick as I can in the field... but as you know things are usually done quickly and explanations to apprentices are usually understandably short and condensed... if at all... These videos are great for reinforcing what I have learned in the field but at my own pace.... Your channel seems to have a video on almost every topic I need to learn about...

Great videos. Your tutorial helped me out when even the tech could not figure out why the furnace would not kick on. When I watched your video it ended up being a plugged nipple where the hose from the pressure switch was connected to. Unclogged the nipple, and voila furnace has worked since then. Awesome vids, I can't thank you enough on explaining how the whole system on the furnaces work. Last note: the tech said he was going to order a new board for the furnace, your video said that if the board was out there should be some burn marks somewhere, there was not any. This got me to thinking it was something far simpler that caused the furnace not to kick in. I was always taught to start with the simplest solutions first. Anyways you saved me at least 700 bucks!
@WordofAdviceTV5 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Glad to hear my videos helped :) Kudos on getting it fixed yourself! (By the way, thought I would mention it just in case.. There are times when there are no visible defects or marks on the control board yet it is still bad but yeah, many times there will be a burnt mark) And I very much agree with your last statement! Gotta start with the simplest solutions first.

Tip from experience... It's a good idea not to mess with the wire positioning and also not unplug those wires serving a pressure switch since it can cause the pressure switch internal contacts (micro switch) to change position ever so slightly. That can cause it to have an intermittent connecting and render a 3-flash code and shut the furnace down. I've had that happen a couple of times after brushing and cleaning the system while ending up causing more trouble that I started with. Disturbing the terminal stress on a pressure switch can lead to trouble so don't do it unless absolutely necessary, such as when getting the trouble code making it suspect. Leave sleeping dogs alone!
