Video covers testing VW Audi COP ignition coils. A short analysis for the trigger signal is also seen here, as well as the use of the Zapper ignition coil tester operation, enjoy...

Great video, thanks for sharing. For this specific coils VW Audi, can you tell us how to test them with a multimeter? Thanks.
@ADPTraining
@ADPTraining 3 жыл бұрын
José, this is not possible, to check with a multimeter. The issue is that the driver transistor is built inside the coil itself, like most newer coils. That's why we created our low cost VW Audi coil testers seen here... www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/VW_Audi_COP_Coil_Tester_Pulser.html

Hi, I have a doubt, I just watched a video in which the person who was explaining tested the coil with a multímeter. And based in a particular límit that he already knew, he could said if the coil is in good or Bad condition. Is that possible?

No, Ohming coil isn't productive. Lands to skewed results.

Excellent video. Could you offer some advice? I need to pick up an rpm signal for a shift light and have been told I can use the coil trigger signal. If I tap into pin 3 trigger wire for this will the coil still fire correctly? hope you can help :) many thanks
@ADPTraining
@ADPTraining 4 жыл бұрын
I have a preamplifier for that. Yes, if you tap to the trigger wire it will load the signal. But, with the RPM pre-amp you'll be fine. We do lots of custom electronic work, I will sent you a Paypal invoice if you want the Pre-Amp. The cost is $355.00. and it's wires are all labeled. Suggest you call me if you want.

I have converted my 2002 q45 to use these and me as well as another friend who's done this are running into some weird issues. Firstly my spark plugs weren't torqued properly and caused a weird resistance in the plug and caused it to arc to the shield and body of plug, I've torqued them down and it went away but now I get random ignition coil codes and I suspect that it might be arcing to the coilpack shield, is it okay to remove that shield? I believe it's just to reduce interference

great,why are there two grounds, what are different from the first one which only have three leads?
@ADPTraining

VW Audi Coils have two grounds. Probably one for the Coil and other for the trigger transistor. autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/

@@ADPTraining ,thank you for your reply. some vehicles only have three leads with only one ground, they still work.

Sure, how it's wired internally is not important, just that you have 1 or 2 grounds.

I seen you test visual spark from the coil packs. But have you ever taken measurements of voltage or resistance from say black to red genuine showing proof which one is better for higher compression engines n the latter. The life long argument that's needs real testing n video proof out there to shut some people up n stop some companies from scamming ppl from a fake upgrade

Great video that. Do you happen to know the timing data for older coil packs such as uf364 used on VW 91-99 Golf & Jetta 95-96 Passat 1.8L 2.0L, they are 3 pin input GND, 12V and signal. I have been searching an actual datasheet for years.

at 1:20, diagram shows three leads, is it a mistake diagram?
@ADPTraining
@ADPTraining 4 жыл бұрын
No, yes the VW Audi COP coils are 4 leads, but on my diagram it's 3 that's because it has 2 grounds. I didn't showed it on the diagram for simplicity. It's not a mistake.

If you were to build a new vehicle the old fashioned way, it would weight an extra 3000 lbs. Things are the way they are because they have to, not because they want to. Could we have made a Tesla 10 years before, yes. 20 years before, no. Brushless motors with strong magnets were not practical yet. 30 years ago, forget it. Technology continues to advance. Is 5G meant to kill people, no, even though it looks that way. What you should ask is, why wasn't a Tesla like technology developed 30 years ago. The answer is, due to powerful oil industry interests. I understand your fears, some are real, but not all of it.

this isn't much more complicated than the old Sears all in one testers that checked voltage regs, batteries, ignition coils, advance/dwell, etc
