The uni to uni and FG knots are great knots. Overall the FG is probably the best overall, but this is the best combination of ease of tying, durability and side benefits like the knot acting as a strike indicator.

The salt strong channel has a great video on how to tie the FG knot with half hitches like your knot. It definitely takes some practice to get good at it
@ChadHooverFishing3 жыл бұрын
@@307mtb Yeap. And if it isn’t tied right it actually cuts the line, which is the main reason that I avoid teaching it as the primary braid to leader knot.

I’ve been using this knot since the first time you made this video! And yes - cutting the Fluoro tag end flush is very important! Nothing worse that having the knot catch on a guide, hearing that .22 *crack*, and seeing your Jackhammer sail off into the distance...

I love the blood knot, but I can only tie it correctly 60% of the time. I'm pretty sure it only works well for me when the line diameters are similar. I've noticed when I jump up to 20lb floro I can not tie it. Could you do a video about this?
@acnjshink3 жыл бұрын
Chad, I tied the #KnotRight #AlbrightNotbut even when getting it exactly right it always get hung up when coming through micro guides. Very strong knot but you have to use small guides at a minimum when tying it.

Great tips Chad! I'm definitely going to try this knot as for the life of me I cannot tie the fg. I normally tie the double uni but the ticking through the guides drives me crazy. Also with the length I've been having leader too long so the knot is somewhere on my spool and will also cause dramas. Quick question: do you use that slipknot trick on your reel spool when you break your rod down after a trip?

@ChadHooverFishing3 жыл бұрын
I think so! I think it is stronger overall. I am not sure, but I think on a break test that if the Alberto Knot is tied 100% correct the breaking strength is slightly higher.
