Yes, it would be possible. Unfortunately, I rarely work with anything larger than a t-shirt due to the space required and the increased strain on my hands to manipulate the material while folding.

Hello, i'm not very familiar with tie dye but i'd love to try this design. What is the difference with using the sinew cord vs anything else? such as like regular string or rubber band.

Sinew "locks" against itself when you wrap it around an object. You can pull on the sinew, tightening the entire tie and when you release the sinew it holds that tight lock until you unwind it. A regular thread will not do this and a rubber band will not allow you to create as tight of a tie as sinew will.

To keep the white that you had in the beginning of rinsing, keep rinsing the shirt DO NOT SQUEEZE IT UNTIL THE WATER IS ALMOST CLEAR. Then the white wouldn't have changed. Good luck next time you have white in a design.

I know it's been a while, but would making a liquid mixture and freezing it like ice cubes and then putting that on top instead of powder, would that work?

It will work; however, it will look like you liquid dyed the shirt as the splitting of component colors only occurs when you ice dye with with powdered dye.

Yes. Powdered dye will separate into the individual colors that it's made from using the ice dyeing method, increasing the color depth and variation that's possible compared to using liquid dye.

With ice dyeing, there's a risk of rogue dye particles showing up as "specks" on the shirt when they don't dissolve/separate properly during the process. Turning the shirt inside-out greatly reduces the appearance of those specks showing up on the outside/visible side of the shirt. This almost never occurs during liquid dyeing unless you: 1) have a bad batch of dye, or 2) don't mix the dye properly; but, I still almost always turn the shirts inside-out just to be safe.

You can substitute liquid dye instead of ice dying with powdered dye for almost all of the videos I publish. The final result will usually be similar. Using powdered dye will allow the dye to split into its' component colors when the ice melts as well as blending with the colors near it. With liquid dye, you'll only have the blending of nearby colors.

No, it doesn't lose color each time it's washed. Procion Riber Reactive Dye actually bonds with the cotton (or other natural) fibers. The dye that comes out during the wash-out and first/second wash cycle is dye that didn't bond with the fiber only and the remaining dye will remain for many, many, many wash cycles. (I have many shirts that have been washed dozens of times with no fading of the colors. My son wears one of his shirts at least twice a week and it's been washed hundreds of times -- that shirt is showing a fair amount of fading; but, that's to be expected from that many wash cycles.)

Remember that dyes are transparent. If you have a red or pink shirt and you apply blue dye, you won't get blue. You'll get some shade of purple.

It depends on the final look that I'm trying to achieve. With ice dye, the dye will split into it's component colors for a more organic final result than liquid dye where you just have blending of the colors.

You can substitute liquid dye for most ice-dyed designs. However, the overall look will not be the same since powdered dye separates into it's component colors during the ice dyeing process versus a liquid dye that is a solid color once it's been mixed into the bottle.
