Lovely demonstration Lindsay.....pleased to know that I am not the only one getting "kicked in the arse " by a whip finish tool....even after 50+ years of fly tying hehehehe.

That two tier tinsel over the back. Just enough bling while maintaining the overall subtle balance and effectiveness of a classic cruncher. This is definitely going to be a addition to my go to selection.

Another nice one. Your right about, flies for fishing and flies for pleasure/challenge tying. On a rule of thumb, flies that take 2 minutes, catch fish, flies that take 10 minutes catch people

This looks like a fly that I would really like to tie and fish because I think it’s one of those flies it looks like it would give me a lot of confidence. Unfortunately you tried in your video to show the red 08HEMDS material but there are several materials that have the 08 designation that hends make with that designation. I think what you have is the red pearl Tinsel??? Could you please clarify this point thank you again and I enjoy your videos. Cheers Jim

@@jimverona Hi Jim, It is definitely a Hends product all it has on the label is Patina Tinsel Pat-08

Thanks Lindsay, how many times do you catch fish after fish on a fly that has become totally battered by fishes teeth. You finally cut it off as it’s nearly bare thread on a hook, you tie on a “new” one of the same pattern but your catch rate drops considerably. That’s the lesson I learned years ago, scuffed up flies out fish neat ones (for me anyway). Cheers

You are so right it happens all the time.

Another great looking fly.The red back makes me wonder if it could be fished with a blakestone buzzer which also has a red flash over the length of the buzzer. Do you ever tye with red hooks, especially when tying bloodworm patterns?

How do you think soft hackle like hen back would work for crunchers

I like it lots of movement 👍

@@lindsayiflyfish I’ve been using Denny Rickards AP Emerger for awhile now which is very similar to a cruncher with a partridge hackle. It uses a dubbed body. A cruncher gives it just a little different twist. Looking forward to trying it
