Another classic. Like the long head hackle. I just bought a couple of really nice hen capes. Need to put them to use. Maybe next season we'll get a full season of fishing in! 😬

Sounds great, I hope you are right about the whole season.

I find that the holographic collar can be changed to suit conditions and or venue. Green for Bewl. Orange, silver, or purple for other waters. One I like to use in dull and overcast conditions. Holo black is soo subtle as the understated hot spot. Even when using spiders and pennells. The addition of collar just behind a small herl or dubbing thorax gives a hint of the cruncher, Muskins vibe. A much smaller footprint during periods when the fish are focused on tiny midge. Not overly large with that little extra touch to draw attention from the fish.

This is how the classic flies of tomorrow are born. We try it. If the trout prefer the change? Then the job is a good one.

What a beautiful fly. Looks very promising. Could you possibly include substitute materials for those of us that don't happen to have items like black pheasant tail on hand? Would black peacock herl do as well? I'm still learning but sometimes get frustrated. Always eager to learn and always enjoy your videos. Thank so much. ''Tight Lines''!

Hi Louis, Many thanks the list would be extensive. Natural pheasant tail will do the job, pheasant tail would be the best for this pattern. Try different materials and see what results you like. No hard and fast rules with tying just do what works.
