The perfect wee devil, proportions, the resin on the thread ball under the tail fibres, stops the tail fibres wrapping around the hook bend. While adding a subtle aim point. The holo tinsel covers hot spot and the haemoglobin of a about to hatch nymph/buzzer. Depending on location, conditions, when during the season that holo tinsel could be red, orange, green, blue, pearl, even black holo has its day.

Looks like a great version of the Diawl. I'll give it a try. Bizarrely, the Diawl Bach is a pattern I personally don't seem to catch much on. I'm probably the only one but I guess it's mainly a confidence thing. I meet a lot of anglers who seem to fish little else.

Absolutely stunning fly, I like to use 2 of these and an apps worm on the point. My other favourite to use is cormorants. Very quick short sharp strips, cormorants do well for me stripped as fast as you can.

Hi Lindsay, not a criticism of your fly tying which I really like. But as a Scot, isn’t the pronunciation of Diawl Bach should it not be Baaach as in Loch, not back as in the part of the body. Hope you don’t mind this comment.
