Your videos and the demos are really good. I liked the tiny details that you explain in the videos, which cannot be found in most other KZbin videos. I'm sure this will help me a lot. Thanks for these!

appreciate you taking the time to instruct - hopefully I'll get better ---today I intentionally slowed down the stroke to the point that I was going very slow and wasn't as exhausted after a few laps of continuous swimming ----almost like my running going from 8 min mile to 9:30 extra slow pace where you can run seemingly forever.

I noticed when you breathe out it’s thru your nose..I breathe out through my mouth which is probably why I get water in my mouth and start to panic and stop. Thank you for this detail video.

Yes, you could be exhaling too much too soon so theres a disruption in your breathing rhythm. You can still exhale through your mouth if you want, but it just has to be a lighter stream versus too much. It's definitely a balance. Thank you for watching and your feedback Kierra. Enjoy your practice and keep me posted! -CM

merry christmas coach. it's been fun and informative relating to you this past year or so. yessssss the head, myopinion, the one item in your endeavors that can ruin streamlining, alignment and velocity. in my setting( older adu;ts and seniors) i spend some time on breathing and its timing but i could spend more time on this. poor technique results in inertial lags, in every stroke frankly. my group mailnly 50+ folks are starting to chat about a masters team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!go figure.

Great instruction, thanks! I'm just getting into swimming more instead of running, as I reckon it's kinder on the joints - and the only one thing I'm struggling with now is that when I follow this instruction, when I breath I always end up with at least some water in my mouth, so I start semi-choking as I'm swimming, at least in one or two breaths during a length, which obviously isn't great ;-). Do you have any idea of what I might be doing wrong? Cheers

Check your upper body rotation. It is not just your head clearing water, your shoulder line would be tilting about 30 degrees for your head to clear more easily.

I have wondered why no one has taken a camera and put it on their forehead for a video similar to this for seeing head position. Most of us never see ourselves on camera, which would be the easiest way to see what we are doing wrong. With a forehead mounted camera, we could 'see' what we should be seeing, both right and wrong. I think it would help with flip turns, breathing, and general head and body position. You would probably have to do it in exaggerated slow motion because normal swim motion would be fairly fast. Our pools are now open again!!! Only one swimmer per lane, and you have to call in and reserve a lane. I didn't lose as much as I thought I would... So nice to be back in the water...
@SWIMVICE

I’ve actually seen someone post a video with this exact mount. It was interesting lol. There was way too much movement and you will feel dizzy just watching it. Lol not really a good angle with too much side ways motion and thrashing. Don’t think it’s all too necessary. When practicing a low breath, I always close my eyes on the roll to feel the water versus seeing the air. It’s helps with maintain form and avoid lifting your head. Glad the pools are open for you, enjoy! 🏊🏼‍♂️🎉

I noticed you were breathing every stroke. In the long run would you advise against that, as it could slow you down? Thanks.
@SWIMVICE
@SWIMVICE 3 жыл бұрын
If breath control and form are consistent, then breathing every other stroke works for distance. Another pattern that every swimmer should aim to learn is every three. This will help you with being able to breathe on both sides and not be dependent with just one. Check out my latest youtube #short on this subject here! 🏊‍♂️🙌✅ kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJy4haaEq7-DisU

I breathe every two strokes on both sides in this video. I did it this way so that I’m facing the camera. 👍 However, if you would like to see all three breathing patterns, I have them demonstrated here: kzbin.infozkUTsNvZPTc?feature=share

Your form, rotation, catch, reach, and breathing are not working together correctly. I used to had the same issue when I first learned how to free style last year. With daily drills and practice I am slowly fine tuning everything to work together to make free style seamless and effortless.

Mandy, what would happen when you rotate too much - stretched in full length. In your demonstration you nearly fold yourself up when taking a breath.
